Regulation on Vietnam Airlines prepaid baggage

From March 31, 2015, Vietnam Airlines prepaid baggage will be applied to almost domestic and international routes. With the new service, passengers can buy excess baggage with the maximum of 50 kg, equal to 10 packages.

Service of Vietnam Airlines prepaid baggage is applicable to all passengers who buy tickets of VNA (738), except for children under 2 years old. Passengers can buy prepaid baggage in all Vietnam Airlines flights (except for some domestic routes operated by small aircrafts of ATR72). Prepaid baggage must be purchased at least 6 hours prior to the scheduled departure time from March 31, 2015. Passengers can buy prepaid baggage and book flights simultaneously, or after receiving tickets and need to buy prepaid baggage. Please contact the booking agents or the official website of VN Airlines. If passengers want to buy prepaid baggage online, they need to use Vietnam Airline reservation code and registering email.

Baggage regulations of Vietnam Airlines

Vietnam Airline offers prepaid baggage service in package of 5 kg. Each passenger can buy 10 packages (50kg) maximum. Prepaid baggage has to follow regulation on Vietnam Airlines checked baggage, and the baggage is not applied to special baggage. Prepaid baggage is valid in the right flight and ticket bought. Passengers are not allowed to transfer the prepaid baggage, to change journey, to reimburse, and to replace by other services or tickets.

In case, passengers change flights exploited by Vietnam Airlines in the same journey, prepaid baggage is allowed to transfer to the new flight. It is necessary that the change must taken place 6 hours before the schedule departure time of both two flights. If the real weight of baggage at the airport is lower than baggage allowance and prepaid baggage, passengers will not receive refund of prepaid baggage. If the real weight of baggage at the airport surpasses baggage allowance and prepaid baggage, passengers have to purchase baggage excess. Passengers in flights from/to US and Canada with baggage allowance in piece system are not allowed to buy prepaid baggage for excess baggage (in terms of kg or piece).

Fee of prepaid baggage in international routes is applied from baggage purchasing poit to the next stop.
