Currently, flights from Da Nang to Laos must transit in Hanoi. According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, there are more than 81,000 Lao visitors to Vietnam and more than 700.000 Vietnamese visitors to Laos in 2019. The opening of direct flight Vientiane Da Nang and vice versa will not only shorten the geographical distance, but also meet the increasing needs of the Lao people as well as the tourist markets that participate in tours or from the Northeastern region of Thailand to Da Nang City.
Vientiane capital is an attractive tourist destination for many tourists around the world with a lot of beautiful landscapes, historical sites and famous architectural works. From Vientiane, visitors only take 45 minutes to fly to Luang Prabang or 8 – 10 hours if traveling by road. If direct flight Vientiane - Da Nang is operated, it will be convenient to open tours, promote the development of tourism between two countries and stimulate the Da Nang tourism market.
It is expected that the route will be officially put into operation on March 29 to celebrate the 45th the liberation of Da Nang City and to strengthen diplomatic relations between Laos and Vietnam. The Vientiane - Da Nang route will be launched and operated with a frequency of 3 flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays by ATR 72 aircraft with 70 seats. Flight Vientiane to Da Nang will depart at 11.10 am and the return flight will take off at 1.30pm from Da Nang.
In addition, the airline also cooperates with the Da Nang Center for Tourism Promotion (Department of Tourism) to prepare famtrip programs to survey tourism products, and cooperate with travel and hotel businesses, and press between the two localities.
However, because the Covid-19 epidemic is spreading and becoming more and more complicated in many countries around the world, Lao Airlines decided to postpone the Vientiane - Da Nang route. After the disease situation is controlled, the airline will announce the new flight time and continue to cooperate in promotional activities.
