The event of changing Vietnam Airlines uniform received a lot of attention of aviation industry, the local public and the region. One of Vietnam Airlines' leader shared that this is the first time after 15 years, the airline changes new uniform for flight attendants and pilots, which marks one of the most important parts in the plan of changing its identified brand. According to many opinions, that new uniform of VN Airlines replaces the old familiar uniform (applied since 1998) is a change but maintaining good impressions of the customers about the image of fantastic charming traditional Ao dai. The new uniform also incorporates changes to adapt to the requirements of the times.
From March 3 to 9, VNA conducts the testing time of the new uniform, gets introduction and survey of passengers about uniform of stewardess and pilots on Vietnam Airlines flights exploited by Boeing 777 and Airbus A330 between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi / Ho Chi Minh City to Japan, Korea, Australia, England, France, and Germany. VN Airlines said that the selection of flights to test new uniform aims to ensure requirements of practical uses when flying in different-climate regions, different light hours, and to make sure the uniform brings safe and convenience. The widespread use of the new uniform of Vietnam Airlines will be done when the airline receives new aircrafts of Airbus A350 and Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner.
In the process of designing the new uniform, Vietnam Airlines associated with designers and consulates to edit and finish. This process also received many comments from leading experts in the fields of art and culture. The uniform is traditional innovated Ao Dai Vietnam. It is divided into two colors: light yellowish for female flight attendants of C class (Business class), and light blue for economy class attendants. Notably, these colors match perfectly with the interior of new generation aircrafts' cabin which is scheduled to receive in the time coming. In addition to female flight attendants, uniform for male attendants and pilots are renewed with technical fabrics and 3D patterns. Stewardess uniform of VNA is designed based on an image of stylized lotus flower, which has a design combined with traditional Ao Dai - nice style and modern. Uniform for pilots and male flight attendants has the image of lotus - Vietnam Airlines logo and the swastika symbolizing peace, good luck, and goodness.
Fabric material of the uniform is absolutely guaranteed the requirements of safety such as non-flammable, heat-resistant, anti-static, anti-cold, and easy to move and feels comfortable to work in a long time. Shortly after launched, new uniforms of pilots and flight attendants have received many positive comments from fashion experts and customers. Representative of VNA said that it would have a series of other changes to make new brand identity system such as redesigned appearance of fleet, articles, label cards and items on the plane, in the lounge ... to achieve the goal of becoming a 4-star international airline, and one of leading airlines of Southeast Asia about the quality of service. With that position, VNA constantly changes in order to promote the image, while improves its quality of service and position in the region and the world.
