Tips for Unaccompanied Children on Vietnam Airlines

Service of Unaccompanied Children on Vietnam Airlines is available mostly in Economy class, and only allow to account for 10 percent in Business seats. The service ensure to transport children traveling alone carefully and totally in safe.

Unaccompanied minor unaccompanied children aged from 2 to 12 do not travel with parent/guardian/authorized person. The age of unaccompanied children will be calculated up to the scheduled departure time of the first flight. If unaccompanied children aged from 2 to 6 do not seat on the same class in flight with his parent/guardian/authorized person in Vietnam Airlines flights, the child as an unaccompanied minor has to complete procedures of unaccompanied children at the same age. For example, the child has Y class ticket, while his parent/guardian/authorized person has C class ticket or Y-Deluxe class ticket).

If children aged from 12 to under 15 order service of Vietnam Airlines Unaccompanied Minor, they will be accepted as 6 - 12 year old unaccompanied children. If children from 2 to 4 order the service, the booking must be made in advance, confirmed with complete payment for service of flight attendant traveling with the UM. The rate of accompanying service is equal to the adult fare of the class requested by passenger. Each flight attendant travels with one child. The time of booking the Vietnam Airlines service, passengers have to make the reservation at least 03 days prior to the scheduled departure time of domestic flights, and 05 days in international flights. The UM Vietnam Airlines service is applied in Economy class.

In case, the service is order for children from 4 to 6. The booking must be made in advance, confirmed with complete payment for service of flight attendant traveling with the UM. The Vietnam Airlines airfares of accompanying service are equal to the adult fares of the class requested by passenger. Each flight attendant travels with one child. If the service of UM is for children from 6 to 15, Passenger does not have to order private flight attendant service. If passenger requests the service, it is necessary to book in advance, confirm, and pay for the accompanying flight attendant. The rate of accompanying service is equal to the adult fare of the class requested by passenger. The request of UM must be booked 24 hours in advance compared to the scheduled departure time. The service is available on Business Class, Deluxe Economy, Class, and Economy Class. The number of passengers as unaccompanied children of Business class does not exceed 10% of seat.

Passengers under 14 have to present the following documents when check-in at the airport. For foreign passenger, passport is a must. For passengers as Vietnamese citizens, it is necessary to present one of the following documents:

- Passport

- Certificate of Birth (acceptable copy)

- Birth Certificate (for a child under 1 month)

- Certificate of social organizations for children living in the social organizations with the validity of 06 months from the date of certification.

In case unaccompanied children under 14, in addition to the above documents, they must have a guarantee of legal representative. Written declaration by legal representative of passengers under 14 is transporting commitment between Vietnam Airlines and legal representative of the passenger.
