The new Vietnam Airlines A350 XWB aircraft is entering its final stage of completion before handing officially to the airline. In the last stage, the aircraft will be fitted engine, have the interior design of cabin and cockpit completed, followed by tests on the ground on air. According to the plan, Vietnam Airlines will receive the new aircraft in mid-year 2015. VNA is the second airline in the world exploiting the most modern aircraft A350 XWB, and becomes the first airline receive two most advanced airplanes in the world - Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350 XWB. Vietnam Airlines fleet will have 14 A350 XWB, including 10 aircrafts bought from Airbus and 4 outsourced ones. A350 XWB of Vietnam Airlines will be exploited in long-haul international routes; firstly it is flights from Hanoi to Paris and flights from Paris to Hanoi.
A350 XWB is the most modern aircraft in the family of Extreme Wide Body aircraft which is leading in Airbus market. Advantages of this aircraft are bringing new standards of in-flight experience for passengers, helping airlines effectively exploit, and especially cost savings. Currently, there are 40 customers in the world order 780 aircrafts of A350 XWB from Airbus - one of two largest aircraft manufacturers in the world. In 2015, Vietnam Airlines will receive 12 new aircrafts, return 2 A330 aircrafts, and it is expected to sell 3 aircrafts of ATR-72 which have been fully depreciated and sell two aircrafts of B777-200ER (produced in 2003, and to be fully depreciated by 2019). Boeing B777-200ER aircrafts, are although not fully depreciated, VN Airlines thinks that the fleet has been operating more than 10 years. If these aircrafts are longer used, it can not guarantee the quality of service, not meet the increasing demand of passengers; and at the same time, it improves customer structure and increases average revenue.
Thus, the fleet of Vietnam Airlines will be rejuvenated and modernized by wide body airplanes, and increased competitiveness. Therefore, at the end of 2015, fleet of VNA will consists of 80 modern aircrafts. The aircraft is equipped with new features which are used to improve the quality of services, saving cost, fuel, and maintenance compared to B777-200ER. And, Boeing 777-200ER will be used in short-haul flights. Regarding to investment plan in 2015, Vietnam Airlines goal is 22,953 billion dong, increasing 2.44 times higher than the estimated investment plans in 2014. In which investment in developing fleet is 21, 208 billion dong, accounting for 92.3% of total investment in 2015. In 2015, the airline has a plan of transporting 16.7 million passenger, the total revenue of 55,000 billion dong, and profit before tax of 179 billion dong.
