An accepted health certificate must be issued by a licensed veterinarian within 10 days of transport, and it must contain the following information:
- Name and address of shipper
- Tag numbers or tattoos assigned to the animal
- Age of animal being must be at least 10 weeks old
- Statement that the animal is in good health, must be noted if the pet is pregnant
- List of administered inoculations, when applicable
- Signature of the veterinarian
- Date of the certificate

- Kennels must be leak-proof and ventilated on at least two sides.
- Kennel must provide enough room for pet to move conveniently and comfortably.
- All kennels must be capable of loading upright in the aircraft bin.
- Kennel is made of rigid plastic, wood, metal.
- It is close securely, but not locks to allow personnel to open it in case of emergency.
- Two dishes for pet must be easily accessible to Delta without opening the kennel door.
Some restrictions on kennels:
- Kennels are not made entirely of welded mesh, wire mesh, wicker, cardboard or collapsible materials.
- Kennels must not have opening doors on top.
- Kennels must not have plastic front doors and/or plastic side latches that secure the top and bottom together without hardware, such as metal nuts/bolts
