What is considered United Airlines excess baggage?
Excess baggage
Baggage exceeding the size or weight limitations of the baggage allowance is excess baggage. Additional charges apply to this type of baggage.
Any piece of baggage allowance or baggage exceeding the size and/or weight limitations will be additionally charged. Excess baggage will be carried subject to load capacities of the aircraft.
Baggage in excess of 100 pounds (45 kilograms) or the total 03 dimentions of 115 inches (292 cm) will not be accepted as checked baggage. Assistive medical devices weighing more than 100 pounds (45 kilograms) will continue to be accepted at no charge.

How a bag is measured in United Airways flights?
Excess baggage
Baggage is measured by length + width + height, including wheels and handle. The dimensions of each measurement are added together to compose the standard number to determine the baggage is transported as checked baggage or not. The measurements for each dimension will be taken from the longest, thickest or widest part of the bag.
Active U.S. military personnel and their accompanying dependents on personal travel traveling on a United or United Express operated flight and check in with United can carry 03 bags up to 70 pounds/ piece with a maximum dimension of 62 inches.
U.S. military personnel on orders and U.S. military personnel and their dependents on orders for relocation travelling on a United- or United Express-operated flight and check in with United can bring 04 bags up to 70 pounds each in United Economy and five bags up to 70 pounds each in United Business, United BusinessFirst, United First and United Global First with a maximum dimension of 115 inches.

How many kinds of UA Airlines excess baggage are there?

There are three types of excess baggage considered by United Airlines: Additional baggage, Overweight baggage, and Oversized baggage.
- Additional baggage: passengers will pay fee for the baggage if they bring more pieces than the baggage allowance. The fee depends on each journey. In flights between the U.S. and Brazil, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, no more than three additional pieces will be accepted.
- Overweight baggage: Customers who travel with checked baggage exceeding 70 pounds (32 kg) will be required to pay a service charge per bag or item, based on the itinerary.
- Oversized baggage: Customers who travel with checked baggage exceeding the total three dimentions of 62 inches (158 cm) will be required to pay a service charge per bag or item, based on the itinerary.

Will pets be carried in flights as regulated in United Airlines hand baggage?

United allows animals as cats, dogs, rabbits and birds to be transported in the aircraft cabin on most US domestic flights. If passengers want to bring a pet in passenger cabin, they need to pay a $125 service charge each way. An additional $125 service charge for each stopover of more than 04 hours in US domestic flights or more than 24 hours outside of the US is applied.
A pet must be carried in an approved hard-sided or soft-sided kennel which must fit completely under the seat in front of the customer and remain there at all times. The maximum dimensions for hard-sided kennels are 17.5 inches long x 12 inches wide x 7.5 inches high; and 18 inches long x 11 inches wide x 11 inches high for a soft-sided kennel. The kennel must not block the aisle. Trained service animals are allowed in-cabin to accompany qualified customers with disabilities.

What exceptions of UA for Military and Sate Department pets?

- Military customers must be on Permanent Change of Station (PCS) or military orders and have travel orders assigned to or from a U.S. Embassy, Consulate or Mission. Orders must be verified at the time of reservation and a copy must be presented to the airport agent at check-in.
- Leisure travel is not covered by this policy.
- Military personnel must carry military identification, and FSP must carry a diplomatic passport or State Department identification.
- All customers must accompany their pets.
- Only domesticated dogs and cats are accepted as checked baggage.
- All dogs must be immunized against rabies. Proof of vaccination is required before air travel begins.
- Destinations/originals of flights must be outside of the 50 United States and Puerto Rico. Pets are not allowed in flights to Belfast, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London Heathrow and Manchester.
- Pets may only be transported to countries that accept animals traveling as checked baggage.
- These exceptions do not apply to travel on carriers other than United.
- The total weight of the pet and its kennel must be 99.9 pounds (45.3 kg) or less.
- Animals will require a baggage tag.
- All animals must be presented at the check-in counter upon check-in at least two hours prior to departure.

Can I bring portable electronic devices in UA Airways aircraft?

As, certain electronic devices could cause minor interference with aircraft navigational instruments. Passengers may use small, lightweight portable electronic devices in non-cellular or "airplane" mode on United-operated flights. Cellular service must always be turned off prior to departure. Flight attendants will announce when devices may be used in flight. Passengers can turn on the cellular service when the aircraft lands and the main cabin door is open.

Should I put high-value, fragile or perishable items in checked baggage in UA flights?

United suggests that passengers should not put high-value, fragile or perishable items in checked baggage. They should be put in cabin baggage. In case, passengers want to transport them as checked baggaeg, United will not take any responsibility for the loss of, damage to or delay in delivery of such items. And, in international flight, United’s liability for destruction, loss, delay or damage to checked and unchecked baggage is limited.
Perishable items should be packed in hard-sided ventilated containers with a maximum of 5.5 pounds (2.5 kg) of dry ice. perishable items packed in Styrofoam coolers or in containers that include wet ice are not permitted.
