All the pregnant passengers must book a Non- Emergency Exit row seat because of the possible physical burden that may occur to pregnant passengers when supports are needed during an emergency evacuation.

Basically, cabin attendants will use Japanese and English to give instructions and explain what to do. If cabin attendants and passengers are unable to communicate in an emergency, it would be difficult for passengers to assist during an evacuation. Therefore, the ability to understand Japanese or English is a necessary condition. If the cabin attendant in charge of the seats uses another language, and it is judged that the cabin attendant and passengers can communicate, passengers who speak languages other than Japanese and English can be assigned to seats at emergency exits.

Baggage cannot be stowed under your seat at exit row seat. Also, baggage which does not place securely may be an obstacle in the event of an emergency evacuation. Please put all of your baggage and personal belongings in the over head compartment.
+ Can I take my baby carriage or stroller when I fly with Japan Airlines?

Checked baggage

No. Baby carriages are not allowed to bring on aboard. Baby carriages may be checked in at the baggage counter or at the departure gate. Checked baby carriages are loaded into the cargo compartment with other checked baggage and can be retrieved at baggage claim upon arrival. Baby carriage service is also provided at airports for departing passengers. If using this service, please check the baby carriage in at the baggage counter or departure gate.

Hand baggages that are allowed to bring on board are restricted by size, weight and quantity to ensure safe, pleasant travel. A passenger may carry on board one personal belonging, such as a shopping bag or handbag, and one baggage meeting the regulations below. The weight of both carry-on baggage pieces shall less than 10 kilograms and the sum of three dimension shall not exceed 115cm (55cm x 40cm x 25cm) in plane with 100 seats or more route JAL – JTA with type of aircraft: 773/ 772(777)/ 787/ 767/ 734/ 738(73H)), the sum of three dimension shall not exceed 100cm (45cm x 35cm x 20cm) in plane with less than 100 seats (route JAL – JAC – RAC with type of aircraft: E70/ CRJ/ SF3/ DH4/ DH3/ DH1).

Items not satisfying these restrictions as well as items that are determined to not be capable of appropriate storage on-board due to space considerations may need to be checked in at the departure gate or passenger cabin for transportation in the baggage hold. Please switch off electronic devices (excluding valuables) in your checked baggage.
