+ What are requirements when check-in China Airlines flights?

Check In

- Passengers should arrange time suitably to complete check-in and necessary security, immigration and/or customs formalities.
- The opening/closing time of China Airlines check-in counters and the time for pre-boarding procedures are different from airports. Passengers should check in 2 hours before the scheduled departure time, even more at some busy airports.
- Passengers requesting special needs or considerations should check in at least 2 hours before scheduled departure time. The airline can have enough time to handle their needs.
- Passengers have to check-in on time because reserved seat could be changed and passengers could be denied boarding if you are late.
+ What do I need for check-in for China Air flight?

Check In

- Ticket
The ticket must meet China Airlines requirements. Ticket will be void if it is mutilated or has been altered, not by China Airlines or an agent authorized by China Airlines. Because of difference in fares, please verify that the booking corresponds with ticket to avoid paying a fare difference.

- Travel Documents
A passport is required for travel. The passport must have a minimum validity for a certain period after departure date.

Visa and other requirements for entering another country are necessary. If passengers do not comply with regulations or prepare proper travel documents, they may be refuse to enter that country.

China Airlines will not assume any responsiblity for not having the proper travel documents.

- Checked and hand baggage
Identification tags or labels must be attached on baggage with information of passengers. Medication, travel documents, and valuables must be put in carry-on baggage.

An excess Baggage Charge will be collected if checked baggage exceeds the allowance. Items carried on board are restricted in quantity, size and weight and must comply with security, flight safety and cabin size. Customs or other officials may examine baggage.
+ What are regulations of ANA hand baggage allowance?

Hand baggage

Free Carry-On baggage allowance is only 1 piece of baggage with total weight (including personal belongings) not more than10 kg (22 lb). The whole dimensions do not excess 115 cm(45 inches), provided that each dimension not exceed 55 cm × 40 cm × 25 cm(22 × 16 × 10 inches) respectively. Please make sure that your baggage is properly packed and taken care of.

Hand baggage should be packed carefully such that it can be stored under the seat in front of you or in the overhead bins in the airplane cabin. Depending on aircraft types and size of available storage space, it may not always be possible to carry on even luggage that meets the above size and weight requirements.

Free All Nippon Airways baggage allowance for International Route Sectors as follows:

ANA First Class: Up to 3 pieces, 32 kg (70 lb) per piece.

ANA Business Class: Up to 2 pieces, 32 kg (70 lb) per piece.

Economy Class (Premium Economy is included.): Up to 2 pieces, 23 kg (50 lb) per piece.

Total linear dimensions for First Class / Business Class / Economy Class (including Premium Economy): do not exceed158 cm (A+B+C) including wheels and handle. If your checked baggage contains any electronic devices (excluding any valuables or fragile items), please be sure they are powered off.

For flights departing from the United State., passengers may be required to open their checked baggage by the security officer at the airport for safety and security reasons.

Excess baggage charges will be evaluated according to regulations in the event that excess baggage which exceeds the Free Baggage Allowance is checked in. Note that the applicable currency and fares will vary depending on your itinerary and the sectors for which your baggage has been checked in.

+ What are the regulations about bulky baggage on All Nippon Airlines?

Excess baggage

Depending on its size and weight, passengers’ checked baggage may not be carried. The following types of baggage cannot be carried as checked baggage and it is considered as Bulky Baggage. Please contact to a cargo agency for the help.

The weight exceeds 45 kg (99 lb) per item and total linear dimensions of A + B + C exceeds 292 cm including wheels and handle.

Baggage Requiring a Customer Service Inquiry: It cannot always check the following baggage types. Please contact directly the ANA International Flight Reservation and Information Center in advance.

Total weight exceed 32 kg (70 lb) and total weight in excess of 100 kg(220 lb). Total linear dimensions of A + B + C exceed 203 cm including wheels and handle.

In addition to the above, some restrictions on baggage size can be accommodated based on your aircraft type and route.

Passengers departing from London Heathrow Airport: According to the British Airport Authority (BAA), checked baggage is limited in weight to 32 kg per piece. So passengers should note that baggage is surely packed for each piece not over 32 kg.
+ What is the new ANA restriction on liquids, gels and aerosols (LAGs) as carry-on baggage?

Special baggage

According to the regulations of each country, we would like to advise the new restrictions described below, which are imposed on liquids, aerosols and gels carried on board ANA aircraft departing from each country. The restrictions on carrying liquids as carry-on baggage have been imposed in the following countries and territories served by flights of ANA.

Flights
All applicable flights departing from the following countries:
- International routes only: Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, and Myanmar
- International routes and domestic routes (flights within the EU): EU member states*, United States, Thailand, India, Canada, China
- The 27 member states of the EU include United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Finland, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Netherlands. The non-EU members Iceland, Switzerland, and Norway apply the same rules.

Liquids, aerosols and gels (herein after referred to as LAGs) are the following restricted:

All LAGs must be contained in individual containers no greater than 100 ml in capacity. Any LAGs carried in a container larger than 100ml will not be agreed as a carry-on item, even if the container is only part-filled. They must put in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag which maximum capacity is one liter and size is no larger than 20x20cm (8x8in).

Each customer is permitted to carry only one such bag. It should be presented separately at the security checkpoint.

Baby milk/ foods are accepted to take onboard for passengers traveling with infants. Medicines are permitted as carry-on baggage. However, you have to fly or you may be required to present a prescription for medicines at the security checkpoint .

Breast milk only may be taken on board with no restrictions on the amount. (Permitted even when not traveling with children). It should be presented separately at the security checkpoint.

Baggage restrictions

Please note that dangerous articles and goods cannot be carried onto the aircraft or checked at the check in counter in accordance with the law and regulations. (Note that violations of the above provision may be met with legal penalties or fines in certain countries). If you have any dangerous articles, please dispose of them using the "Disposal Box" available at the airport security checkpoint.

Items not permitted onto the aircraft or checked at the counter such as explosives (including fireworks), compressed gases (including butane gas cassettes and O2 bottles for sport use and Aerosols (dust removal), flammable liquids and solids (including matches, lighters and lighter fuels), camping and household stoves, alcoholic beverages exceeding 70% alcohol by volume), poisonous substances (including insecticides), corrosives, oxidizing substances, offensive or irritating substances, radioactive materials, highly magnetized materials, and any other articles liable to endanger and/or damage the aircraft or persons or property on board.

Medical and toilet articles in small quantities may be carried. Please contact the ANA International Flight Reservation and Information Center for more details.

A small amount of safety matches or one lighter* is permitted to be carried on one's person.

Regarding Restrictions on the Carrying On of Matches and Lighters

In international and domestic flights departing from Mainland China (except Hong Kong), India, the Philippines, Vietnam or Myanmar, you are not permitted to carry any matches or lighters.

These items are also prohibited when carried as checked baggage.

Please note that matches and lighters will be confiscated at the security checkpoint.

Passengers Flying on U.S. Routes:

According to the instructions of the U.S. Government, printer and toner cartridges exceeding 500 g are not accepted as carry-on or checked baggage on flights to and from U.S.

Each passenger is permitted to bring 5 liters in total of alcoholic beverages exceeding 24% by volume but not exceeding 70% by volume for both checked and hand-carried baggage.

The carrying of any alcoholic beverages into the aircraft cabin is prohibited by the Civil Aviation Administration of China on aircraft departing from China (excluding Hong Kong). Bleach which is oxidizing or corrosive cannot be carried onto the aircraft or included in checked baggage.

Please make sure that any of the following items in your possession are checked at the check in counter, as they cannot be carried onto the aircraft. Items which cannot be carried onto the Aircraft as Knives of any length, ski wax sprays, or any other items that could be used to cause injury, such as scissors, heavy or sharp tools, ice-skating shoes, baseball bats, golf clubs etc.

Carrying knives of any kind aboard the plane is banned by law, and offenders will be fined up to 500,000 Yen.
