Qatar Airways accepts carrying excess baggage with some fees. If you wish to take more than your allotted baggage allowance, please contact to have information.

Firstly, you should report the delayed baggage and reference number to Qatar Airways baggage services desk in the airport. In most cases, delayed baggage can be delivered to you within 24 hours (eg. your home, office, or hotel) if local customs regulations permit. We will take all necessary measures to ensure timely delivery of your checked baggage.

In case you have incurred some expenses due to late delivery of your baggage, we will compensate by reimbursing your reasonable and necessary expense (conditions apply). In the event that baggage is considered to be lost then our compensation will be in accordance with the Montreal Convention, where applicable.

If, on arrival, you find that your checked baggage is damaged, please complain in writing to the Qatar Airways baggage services desk- prior to leaving the airport. If the damage is discovered after you have left the airport, you may contact the nearest Qatar Airways office along with a copy of your ticket, claim check, and the damaged bag.

Please ensure your baggage is sufficiently robust, well packed, and properly secured to withstand the usual rigors of air travel.

If you have left or lost a personal item onboard after your disembarkation or at the Qatar Airways departure gate or lounge, please contact the Qatar Airways baggage services desk at the airport immediately to assist you in locating your lost article. Qatar Airways is not responsible for lost items but will do its best to assist you.

You will save much time at the airport by checking-in online. Choose your seat, print your boarding pass, and use the fast-bag-drop counters at the airport to check-in your luggage with ease.

If your flight departs from the US, you can check in online 24hours hours prior to departure and if your flight departure from Doha to the US, check-in online is available 24 hours before flight departure.

For all other flights, passengers can check in online 36 hours to 90 minutes prior to departure.

Online check-in is only available for flights operated by Qatar Airways. Online check-in is not available for passengers departing from Baghdad, Basra, Mashhad, Salalah or Shiraz.

Before using the online check-in, please have the following documents at hand:
- Passports and visas of all travellers
- Privilege Club membership number (if applicable)
- Accommodation details (if applicable)

Then enter your last name and booking reference number, Privilege Club number, or E-ticket number to retrieve your booking. After that confirm the details of all the travellers on your booking and select your seats. And finally, review the details of your booking, click to confirm your check-in, and email, print, or send your boarding pass to your mobile phone.

Check-in counter opens 3 hours prior to departure and closes one hour before departure for Economy Class passengers and 45 minutes for First and Business Class passengers. We want to ensure your flight departs on time, so you should arrive at the airport three hours prior to departure.

Tips for a smooth check-in at the airport:

• Keep your passports, tickets, boarding passes, and travel visas ready at all times.
• Label your luggage.
• Check that your bags do not contain any prohibited items.
• Let us know if you need special assistance.

Passengers booked within 72 hours of departure, transit hotel accommodation cannot be prebooked. In cases where your ticket is booked within 72 hours from your arrival in Doha, please proceed to the transfer desk when you arrive at Hamad International Airport to arrange your transit accommodation.

Transit accommodation is up to the discretion of Qatar Airways. Not all fares are eligible for this stopover service; please contact your local Qatar Airways office to know more details and applicable charges.

In certain cases, Qatar Airways will offer accommodation, entry visas, airport transfers, and meals to passengers experiencing extended transit times in Doha.

This service may be available if the following criteria is collectively met:
• There is no connection of less than 8 hours available;
• The transit time in Doha is between 8 and 24 hours;
• The booking does not include flights to or from Abu Dhabi (AUH), Bahrain (BAH), Dubai (DWC), Dubai (DXB), Kuwait (KWI), Muscat (MCT), and Sharjah (SHJ).

Passenger can use China Airlines web check-in at anywhere with Internet connected (at home or at office) from 24 hours up to 1.5 hours before the scheduled departure time. Check-in online will help passengers to save time at the airport, also:

- Check-in for passenger and companion (up to 9 persons in the same booking record).
- Select or change seat only after completing web Check-in procedures.

Apart from traditional check-in counter at the airports, passengers can check in China Airlines flights at self check-in kisoks at some airports as Taoyuan, Kaohsiung, Songshan, Taichung, Hong Kong, Vancouver, San Francisco, Tokyo Haneda, Nagoya , Frankfurt and Los Angles to save time and more active. Please note that, at some airports, the kiosks may be closed earlier; thus, passengers need to present there sooner.

These self check-in kiosk gives you a quick alternative:
- Use your passport for International flight check-in.
- Select or change your seat assignments after kiosk self check-in.
- Check-in other passengers in the same booking record.

Yet, at the check-in counter, passengers should pay attention to some notes. Passengers have to ensure that their baggage is tagged for the correct flight and destination. The tag number on their luggage is the same as the receipt they retain.
