A passenger cannot check in online for his flight with American if:
- His first flight for check-in is not operated by AA or American Eagle. Yet, if the filght is exploited by British Airways, Iberia, or Japan Airlines, the check-in request will be transferred to the operating airline’s website.
- He is traveling on a military fare
- He is traveling with a pet
- He is traveling with an oxygen container
In case, a passenger checks in for a flight operated by British Airways, Iberia, or Japan Airlines, his check-in rules will apply. He can check with the operating carrier for more information.

In flights within/between the U.S., Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, passenger cannot check in online if he is an unaccompanied minor; or, passengers cannot check in between one and 24 hours before flight.

In flights not within or between the U.S., Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, passenger cannot check in online if traveling with an infant under 2 years old; he cannot check in between 02 and 24 hours before flight; he cannot check in over 24 hours before flights of British Airways, over 36 hours before flights of Iberia, and over 72 hours before flights of Japan Airlines.
