What can I know Qantas regulation for Liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) and hypodermic needles?
Special baggage
On itineraries from an international terminal (including domestic itineraries), liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) such as toiletries are requested to be 100mls or less and must be displayed within a clear resealable plastic bag and screened at the screening checkpoint.
Connecting passengers at international airports in Australia (Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney) are allowed to take duty free LAGs purchases onboard their next international flight after they have been clarified at the screening checkpoint within the airport.
Duty free LAGs need to have been bought at an airport retail outlet or onboard an inbound international flight and must be comprised within secure, tamper-evident bags (STEBs) and accompanied by a proof of purchase receipt. Passengers should note that despite passing through Australian transit screening points, such LAGs items may be confiscated at other overseas airport transit screening points. For more information visit the Travel SECURE website.
Passengers flying to the United States with a connecting flight will be allowed to bring liquids in excess of 100ml in their hand baggage, provided they were bought in duty-free shops and placed in STEBs. Liquids that cannot be made a screen and made a clear will not be permitted to remain in a passenger's hand baggage. This may consist of liquids in opaque, ceramic, or metallic bottles, or other containers that cannot be effectively scanned.
If you need to carry a hypodermic needle, you will be required to make a declaration at the airport screening point.
