Etihad provides a host of different ways to assist to keep your children entertained, including a great choice of television shows, music, movies, and funny video games. Every child over 3 years old will receive pack of funny games of their own children, activity books, and stickers to help keep boredom at bay. The Flying Nannies are also armed with unlimited fun and challenging pastimes.

Children above 5 and below 12 years old and travelling alone are treated as Unaccompanied Minors (UM’s).Young adults from 12 and below 16 years old travelling lonely with no parents/guardians are also entitled to the Unaccompanied Minors service if specifically required by the parent or guardian.

Children below 5 years old are not eligible for Unaccompanied Minors service and will not be permitted to travel alone.

You can reserve online your child's flight. After reserving the flight, we shall provide you with a valid booking reference number. You will need this to complete the Unaccompanied Minor Form.

Alternately, you can contact our Global Contact Centre or local ticketing offices to make a reservation and request for the UM service at least 24 hours prior to flight departure time. Please reserve early as the Unaccompanied Minor service is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Etihad is trying to meet your preferred taste and special meals requirements - religious compliance, medical needs or to satisfy the appetite of our younger passengers. You should request Meals at least 24 hours before departure time. We cannot guarantee delivery of your meal if ordered less than 24 hours.

You need to make a request for your special meals at least 24 hours before departure time through the following ways:

When you make a new reservation online through the website, select your flights, enter passenger full name and click the plus button (+) to access special meal request.

After reserving your flight online or with the Contact Centre, go to Manage my Booking and modify the Passenger Details page.

When you book via a travel agent or ticketing agent, please request directly your preferred meal from travel agent you booked for the help.

You need make a request for special services of Etihad as wheelchair at least 72 hours before the departure time of flight.

The pregnant passengers are 28 weeks of age with one or multiple children can travel with Etihad without a medical certificate.

Single pregnancy
Pregnant ones are between 29 weeks to 36 weeks of age need provide a medical certificate as the regulation.

From the beginning of the 37th week onwards, pregnant women will not be permitted for travel.

Multiple pregnancy
Pregnant ones are between 29 weeks to 32 weeks of age have to submit a medical certificate as the regulation.

From the beginning of the 33rd week onwards, pregnant women will not be permitted for travel.

Important information an expectant mother should know about when travelling with Etihad:

- Issued and signed by your doctor or attending midwife.
- Written on a clinic/hospital letterhead and/or stamped by the doctor or attending midwife.
- Issued within 7 days from the travel date.
- State if the pregnancy is single or multiple.
- State the number of weeks of pregnancy and the Expected Date of Delivery (EDD).
- State that you are fit to fly.
- Easily understood and written in English or Arabic. Other languages are acceptable but must be verified by Etihad Airways check-in staff.

For a child travelling alone, a trip by air can be a little daunting. So Etihad take additional care of unaccompanied minors ensuring they are supervised and happy from the moment you place them in our care until we reunite them with loved ones.

Age classification:
- Below (but not yet) 5: May not travel alone. Must be accompanied by a passenger age 18 and above.
- 5 and up to (but not yet) 12: Classified as Unaccompanied Minor.
- 12 and up to (but not yet) 16: May travel alone without the UM service. Entitled to the UM service if specifically requested by the parent or guardian.

Flying with partner airlines: While your flight may have been reserved via Etihad, the flight may be surely operated by one of partner airlines of Etihad. If your flight or a segment of your flight is surely operated by one of many partner airlines of Etihad, then different classification of age and policies may be applicable. Please check their official website or contact the airline operated directly for more details.

Upon departure
Etihad will take care of your child at every during the trip. On the travel day, your child must be accompanied to the airport on time and should be checked-in at least 120 minutes before departure time.

After completing check-in, your child will be placed under the guardianship of one of our ground hosts who will assist them through passport control and security checkpoints right up to the aircraft. At this point, cabin crew will take over to ensure your child a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable flight.

Onboard fun
Be assured your child will be funny on board with the goody bag of games and activities, various children’s in-flight entertainment and tasty food and refreshments.

On transit
If transiting between flights, the maximum length of time between flights is 4 hours. Your child will be met by premium services team members and escorted to our specially designed lounge of the aircraft.

Upon arrival
On arrival at the airport, your child will be met immediately by one of ground hosts of the airline and be escorted via immigration, baggage claim, and customs to finally be reunited with you within the arrivals area. During the trip we will be there to take good care of your child and assist with anything they need, so you can relax knowing that they’re in safe hands.
