+ Will MH Airlines carry sports instruments?

Special baggage

All sports equipment, including golfing equipment, will be carried as part of the free checked baggage allowance, and will be subject to excess baggage charges if overweight.
- Golf Equipment: A golf bag need to be carried as part of free checked baggage allowance of passenger and will be subject to excess baggage charges if the weight is over.
- Surfboards / Wind Surfing: One surfboard/windsurfing to a maximum length of 2.5 meters (250 cm or 98 inches). Items over 2.5 meters in length shall not be accepted as checked baggage. For windsurfing, mast, boom and sail also included if wrapped as one item.
- Sailboards and Masts, Canoes
- Bikes / Bicycles (Touring or Racing – non-motorized): With handlebars fixed sideways and pedals removed. Accepted in place of one 62 inches (158cm) bag. Suitably packed in a bike box (this will protect both the bike and the baggage of other passengers.
- Fishing Equipment is defined as two rods, one reel, one landing net, one pair of fishing boots (all properly encased) and one fishing tackle box
- Archery Equipment A combination of the following: One bow, One quiver containing arrows, A maintenance kit
- Bowling Equipment: One item of bowling equipment is defined as one bowling bag, one or two bowling balls and one pair of bowling shoes.
- Hunting equipment
- Parachutes Hang: gliders will only be accepted if they are within the maximum dimensions of 2.5m x 1.00m x 0.80m (98in x 39in x 31in).
- The firearm must be completely unloaded and, if it is possible, it need be dismantled and packed inside standard gun case or a suitcase.
- Scuba equipment often includes masks, diving suits, buoyancy control devices, snorkels, flippers, and so on. If air bottles are also permitted to carry, they have to be made empty.
- Snow/Water Skiing Equipment: A set of snow ski equipment may include one pair of skis, one pair of ski poles and one pair of ski boots or one snow board and one pair of boots.
+ How about Malaysia Airlines checked baggage allowance for Enrich and Oneworld members?

Checked baggage

Enrich members
• Member of Enrich Platinum are allowed to bring 100% of extra checked baggage allowance for the respective class of travel. Golfing equipment allowance of 15kg is in addition to this.
• Member of Enrich Gold are allowed to bring 50 % of extra checked baggage allowance for the respective class of travel.
• Member of Enrich Silver are allowed to bring 5 kg extra checked baggage allowance for the respective class of travel.

Oneworld members
• Member of Oneworld Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby can bring 02 pieces of additional checked baggage allowance.
• Member of Oneworld Sapphire can bring 01 piece of additional checked baggage or 15kg checked baggage allowance on any Oneworld partners which apply.
• Member of Oneworld Emerald can bring 01 piece of additional checked baggage or 20kg checked baggage allowance on any Oneworld partners which apply.
+ What happens if baggage exceeds allowance in MH Airlines?

Excess baggage

To comply with international regulations on health and safety for baggage handlers, Malaysia Airlines has imposed a strict rule that each single piece of checked item or checked baggage does not exceed 32 kg (70lbs). Any single piece of baggage exceeding 32 kg (70 lbs) will be rejected at check-in counters. Customers will have to to reduce the weight by repacking the baggage into smaller units before check-in. This regulation equally applies to transit baggage.

All payments of excess baggage charges should be made at the airport upon check-in.

Weight System excess baggage rates for each block of 5kg:
- Within Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah & Sarawak: MYR 55
- Between Peninsular Malaysia, and Sabah or Sarawak: MYR 65
- South East Asia: MYR 85
- South Asia/ Greater China: MYR 125
- North Asia/ Australia/ New Zealand/ Middle East: MYR 145
- Europe: MYR 195

For flights from international airports, the charges will be based on the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) value of the applicable zonal charge. It will be converted into the local currency of payment during check-in.

The above guidelines does not cover code-share flights as well as travel involving other airlines.

Piece System rates
For Economy Class, baggage exceeds over 23 kg (50 lbs) and up to 32 kg (70 lbs), passengers pay USD25/CAD25 per piece for the first 2 pieces.

Live animal or domestic pet should not be included in the free baggage allowance but shall constitute excess baggage for which the passenger must pay the applicable charges.

• Weight system, the charge is based on 1.5% of the highest normal direct adult one-way Economy Class fare (in local currency) for each kilogram.
• Animal weight plus the cage
• If the weight of live animal and its cage is less than 5kg, a minimum of 5kg will be charged.

Guide dogs accompanying sight or hearing impaired passengers, together with containers and food, will be carried free of charge in addition to the free baggage vallowance.
+ How does MH Airlines carry valuable items?

Special baggage

MH Airlines will accept to carry valuable items if passengers agree that the airline will not take any responsbility for the damage and lost of these items during the transportation. Passengers are recommended not to put valuable items asmoney, jewelry, cameras, video and electronics equipment, silverware, negotiable instruments, business documents, samples, antiques, paintings, furs, manuscripts or similar items, computers and medication in checked baggage.
+ Does Malaysia Airways carry pets on cabin?

Special baggage

Animals and pets carriage in cabin of Malaysia Airlines is prohibited. These animals can be transported in baggage compartment of the airline as special excess baggage with the follwing conditions:
- Being in good health condition and meeting the requirments of each country about animal carriage by air.
- Pets are kept in cages and put in airline holds.
- There are food and water to breed pets on time.

Passengers have to show permit about pet carriage and animal health certificate. The total weight of pet and cage will be calculated and charged as that of excess baggage.
Some destinations require to carry pets as cargo are:
- Auckland
- All Australian destinations
- London
- Hong Kong
- Bandar Seri Begawan
- Dubai
+ What is pet owner’s responsibility in flights of MH Airlines?

Special baggage

The owner must have necessary documents to have the carriage approved. The pet’s owner should contact the booking agent, Hellp Center of Malaysia Airlines or the nearest ticket office to know about the requirements.

The owner has to prepare information about kind of animal and weight of both animal and cage before asking the booking agents or others.

It is recommended to contact the Vegetarian Office at the departing country and visiting country to know more about the health requirement of animals and relevant documents.

The container or kennel used for the animals must satisfy the following conditions:
• Cage is well-constructed and able to withstand other freight damaging it or causing the structure to buckle or bend
• Cage is adequately ventilated, with the majority of the ventilation being provided on the upper part of the container
• Cage is locked carefully order to prevent escape or any part of the animal protruding with the resultant danger of injury
• Cage is large enough for the animal to stand, turn and lie down in comfort
• Cage must have food and water to feed animal
• Cage is clean and leak-proof
• Cage must have layers under the cage to prevent soilage and damage to aircraft floor
• Cage must be easy to carry and not protect the staff from being clawed or bitten by the animal

The airline always tries to ensure passengers always receive their baggage as scheduled and in their original condition. In addition, the airline provides several services in some unfortunate cases. Baggage services or Mishandled Load Office (MLO) or Lost and Found Office, takes charge of:
• Delayed or lost baggage
• Damage and pilferage
• Articles or items left on an aircraft or within Malaysia Airlines areas
• On-the-spot' compensation

+ What to do when I get lost/delayed baggage in flight with MH?

Mishandled baggage

If passengers recognized lost/delayed baggage, please contact a Malaysia Airlines help center upon arrival at the airport. Then, passengers should fill in the Property Irregularity Report (PIR), the tracing for the baggage will commence. Passengers will be given a file reference number to check the status of baggage online. They will also be updated regularly during the tracing period.
