+ Which tools and sharp object are allowed by British Airline on board?

Baggage restrictions

Tools and sharp object allowed in both hand and checked baggage are knitting needles and crochet hooks, small round ended/blunt scissors/knives (blades measuring up to 6cm (2.4in)), tweezers, disposable and cartridge razors (not loose blades).

Items only allowed in checked baggage are larger scissors/knives (blades greater than 6cm (2.4in)) and sharp or pointed scissors/small knives, other sharp and bladed objects such as razor blades, Stanley knives/box cutters and DIY tools, and blunt instruments such as bats, bars and DIY tools.

No. all flammable, explosive, and chemical items are not allowed on flights of BA in both hand and checked baggage, except carbon dioxide (dry ice), mercurial thermometers and barometers (carried by a representative of a government weather bureau or similar agency) can be transported with some required approvals.
+ Does British Airways accept to transport firearms and ammunition?

All firearms (including replica and decommissioned) and ammunition are restricted under UK law. Passengers can carry firearms and ammunition if they inform advance and keep with the appropriate licenses and documentation.

You must call one of our contact centers at least 72 hours before your flight if you intend to travel with firearms or ammunition to ensure compliance with government embargoes and restrictions. If you fail to notify us you will not be able to travel with your equipment.

In many airports, lost baggage is delivered to airport handling agents — they may charge an administrative or storage fee for reclaimed items, as well as postal charges for returning items. If your property has been found they'll explain any charges.

London Heathrow
For items lost in British Airways lounges, on board an arriving aircraft or in the terminals, visit the Bagport lost property site. Please note that it can take between 24 and 48 hours for a found item to be registered on their site, and once retrieved Bagport keep everything for three months.

London Gatwick
For property left in the BA lounge, on a flight arriving into the airport or in the terminal building, contact: +44 (0) 1293 666362. This service is available between 06:00 - 22:00.

+ What should I do if I picked up someone else's bag when I arrived from BA flights?

The other customer will already have reported their bag 'missing' to the airline staff at your arrival airport, and this team will also have hold of your bag too. Please just return to the arrivals area of the airport with the bag you have, along with some ID and your original bag tag receipt, and we'll be able to give you your bag and take the other one from you.

+ What to do to find delayed and lost baggage on British Airlines?

Passengers should immediately report the problem to the airline. If you reported your bags missing at the airport you do not need to take any further action. We are trying to reunite you with your bags and will be in touch when we find them. If you left the airport without reporting the problem and you do not have a baggage file reference number please call us at the earliest opportunity.

As soon as we find your bag, we will deliver it to you for free to any address you choose. (This service is not applied in some countries due to local government restrictions but we will advise you if this applies.) Most bags are reunited with their owners within 72 hours.
+ When can I claim for baggage problem on flights of BA Airways?

- In case of baggage reported as missing for more than three days: deadline for claim is 21 days from the date of the flight.
- In case of expenses incurred because of a delay to a bag: deadline for claim is 21 days from the date of the flight.
- In case of damage to a bag: deadline for claim is 7 days from the date you received your bag.
- In case of Missing or damaged baggage contents: deadline for claim is 7 days from the date you received your bag
+ What are British Airways insurance and baggage liability limitations?

Whilst we will make every attempt to ensure your baggage is handled with care, you should know that British Airways’ liability for loss, delay or damage to baggage is limited unless a higher value is declared in advance and additional charges paid.

The extent of airline liability is not based on the weight of the bag nor its value. British Airways does not accept liability for fragile, valuable, perishable articles or baggage which is packed in damaged or unsuitable containers.

Under the Conditions of Carriage we accept no liability for the loss of jewelry, other valuables and money contained in checked baggage. You are advised to keep valuables, important documents and money either on your person or in your hand baggage.

We strongly recommend that you obtain adequate travel insurance cover prior to your journey.
+ What is compensation of BA in case of death or injury?

There are no financial limits to the liability for passenger injury or death. For damages up to 113,100 SDRs (approximately £109,500 or EUR 123,000) the air carrier cannot contest claims for compensation. Above that amount, the air carrier can defend itself against a claim by proving that it was not negligent or otherwise at fault.
