Passengers have to check the following things:
- Infant assistive devices
- Medical devices
- Mobility devices
- Pets
- Specialty and sports items

Passengers can bring 01 piece of hand baggage and 01 personal items. The piece of carry-on baggage has the sum of three dimensions less than 45in/115cm (including handles and wheels) and fits into the sizer provided at the airport.

Passengers can bring the following personal items which must be smaller than hand baggage and fit the under seat in front:
- A purse
- A briefcase
- A laptop bag
- Similar items such as a tote

Besides, passengers are allowed to bring some additional items such as:
- Outerwear such as coats, wraps and hats
- A book or newspaper
- A small bag of food to eat on the flight
- An approved safety seat for a lap or ticketed child
- A pillow or blanket
- An umbrella stroller for a lap or ticketed child
- A diaper bag for a lap or ticketed child
- Duty free items
- Assistive devices (e.g. wheelchairs, walkers, portable oxygen concentrators, CPAP machines etc.)
- Breast pump

According to regulation of TSA, there are certain duty-free liquids through security allowed to put in carry-on bag if they are properly packaged in a security tamper-evident bag.

When passengers travel with a pet kennel or container as your carry-on bag, the cabin pet charge still applies.

There are some cases that your carry-on baggage will be transported as checked baggage. If your belongings do not fit in the overhead bin or under the seat, you will have to check personal items such as roller board bags, duffle bags, and larger backpacks.

- Domestic flights: 25USD for bag 1, 35USD bag 2, 150USD bag 3, and 200USD bag 4+
- Flights to/through/from Mexico/ Caribbean/ Central America: 25USD for bag 1, 40USD bag 2, 150USD bag 3, and 200USD bag 4+
- Flights to/through/from Brazil: free bag 1 and 2, 85USD bag 3, and 85USD bag 4+
- Flights to/through/from South America: free bag 1 and 2, 150USD bag 3, and 200USD bag 4+
- Flights to/through/from Transatlantic: free bag 1, 100USD bag 2, 200USD bag 3, and 200USD bag 4+
- Flights to/through/from Transpacific: free bag 1 and 2, 200USD bag 3, and 200USD bag 4+
All baggage fees are non-refundable and apply per person, each way.

According to the American Airlines baggage regulation, First class, Business class, Executive Platinum, and oneworld Emerald can bring 03 bags weighing up to 70lb/32kg without fee. If they bring more than 03 bags, they have to pay fee.

- Domestic flights: 100USD for baggage of 50lb/23kg - 70lb/32kg, and 200USD for baggage of 70lb/32kg - 100lb/45kg.
- Flights from/through/to Mexico/ Caribbean/ Central and South America: 100USD for baggage of 50lb/23kg - 70lb/32kg, and 200USD for baggage of 70lb/32kg - 100lb/45kg.
- Flights from/through/to Brazil: free for baggage of 50lb/23kg - 70lb/32kg, and 200USD for baggage of 70lb/32kg - 100lb/45kg.
- Flights from/through/to Transatlantic: 100USD for baggage of 50lb/23kg - 70lb/32kg, baggage of 70lb/32kg - 100lb/45kg not allowed.
- Flights from/through/to Transpacific: 100USD for baggage of 50lb/23kg - 70lb/32kg, 450USD for baggage of 70lb/32kg - 100lb/45kg.
Passengers should remember that piece of baggage over 100lb/45kg will not be accepted as checked baggage.All baggage fees are non-refundable and apply per person, each way.

Baggage larger than 62 in/158 cm are considered excess baggage. All baggage larger than 126in/320cm will not be transported as checked baggage. The excess baggage fees are different from journeys:

- Domestic flights: 200USD for baggage
- Flights from/through/to Mexco/ Caribbean/ Central and South America: 200USD
- Flights from/through/to Brazil: 150USD
- Flights from/through/to Transatlantic: 150USD
- Flights from/through/to Transpacific: 200USD
