Can children travel alone with United Airlines?
Special orders
Children 5 to 11 years of age are considered unaccompanied minors when they are not accompanied onboard by a parent, legal guardian or someone who is at least 18 years of age. They will be carried with the following restrictions:
• Only available in nonstop flights operated by United or United Express.
• Children under 5 are not accepted.
• Children 5 to 11 years of age traveling alone must use our unaccompanied minor service and pay service charge.
• Children ages 12 to 17 can use United's Unaccompanied Minor service for travel on nonstop flights operated by United or United Express, or they can travel as adults on any flights.
• Contact the United Customer Contact Center or your local travel agent to make arrangements for unaccompanied minor service or for more information.

How is ticket for infant counted in United Airline flights?

Infants under the age of two traveling without a seat within the United States, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands are free from ticket.
All infants traveling internationally, including infants traveling to Canada and Mexico, must have a ticket, but sit on laps of their parents.
Infants traveling between the U.S. and Canada, or from Mexico to the U.S. or Canada, only pay taxes on the ticket. Infants traveling without a seat to other international destinations are charged 10% of the adult fare.
Infants traveling on an adult's lap on front cabin awards or upgrades must pay 10% of the front cabin fare in applicable markets.

How long will I have to check in United Airlines flight?

For flights within the U.S., as well as most international flights, passengers can not check in baggage for more than four hours before scheduled flight departure; this policy is differnt from airports and based on daily check-in counter operating hours.
United has the right to cancel reservations, deny boarding and refuse the acceptance of checked baggage of any passenger who does not meet the applicable check-in time limit (Check-in is available starting 24 hours prior to scheduled departure).
- The minimum check-in time for customers without checked baggage is 30 minutes prior to departure, except for Guam, is 60 minutes.
- The minimum check-in time for customers with checked baggage: 30 minutes prior to departure for all airports within the U.S. and Puerto Rico,
- Boarding ends 15 minutes before scheduled departure for flights within the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands; 30 minutes before scheduled departure for flights out of Guam.

2. Proceed to the departure gate with your boarding pass
3. Board the plane when your group is called

• Print your ticket receipt
• Check baggage (at designated check-in counter locations)
• Select or change your seat
• Upgrade or stand by for United Global FirstSM, United BusinessFirst, United First or United Business
• Verify or input your MileagePlus number
• Change your flight for same-day travel
• Transact in English, Chinese (Simplified or Traditional), French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish or Thai

What will I need to check-in for flight of UA Airlines at an airport kiosk?
Check In
To check in at an airport kiosk, you will need a major credit card or United MileagePlus frequent flyer card. Select driver's licenses or passports with machine-readable characters are also accepted. If you are unable to activate the kiosk, a United representative will be available to assist you.

How can I change my itinerary with UA at an airport kiosk?
Check In
Same day, same origin/destination flight changes may be confirmed on the day of departure at an airport kiosk, provided the fare rules permit the change and the cabin originally booked is available.

Could I check bags for United Airways flights using an airport kiosk?
Check In
Yes. Airport kiosks at designated check-in counter locations offer the option to check baggage. After receiving your boarding pass(es), simply proceed with your baggage to the designated bag drop area in front of or adjacent to the kiosk, and a United representative will handle the rest.

Can I use an airport kiosk when traveling internationally with UNITED?

Yes. Kiosks can be used for travel from the U.S. to any international destination. In some cases, a United representative will need to check your international documentation (such as a passport or visa). Most international flights departing from airports out of US are also available by kiosk.

Airport kiosks are capable of handling most itineraries. The most common exceptions include:
