Very simply, this is our quickest method to identify you. An airport kiosk only reads the name encoded on your card for the purpose of locating your reservation. No additional charges will be made.

- Check your boarding pass to make sure it is not correct, including name, flight, destination and other information.
- Confirm that your checked baggage has been tagged full of information as name, address, phone number to avoid lost baggage and destination and that you have the accurate receipt(s).
- Verify that all of your travel documents and your ticket for onward and return flights have been returned to you.
- Ensure enough time to complete necessary procedures, such as security, immigration, and so on.
- Arrive at your boarding gate at least 20 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time
- Boarding/Transfer/Transit/Arrival

Things you need to know before boarding:
Please go to the boarding gate at the time shown on your boarding pass. If you are late, you may not be able to board the flight. It is advised that you arrive at your departure gate at least 20 minutes before your scheduled departure time.

Please get on your flight according to our pre-boarding announcement. Passengers flying with infants/children, seniors and others who need more time to board, including passengers requiring wheelchair service, have boarding priority. After that, the boarding sequence will be First class passengers, Paragon members, Emerald members , SkyTeam Elite Plus members, Business class passengers, Gold members, Corporate members, SkyTeam Elite members and Economy Class passengers.

China Airlines will check your hand baggage to make sure that it satisfies flight safety regulations. If your hand baggage is overweight or oversized, it will be checked and carried in the cargo compartment. In addition, excess baggage charges will be applied if the cabin baggage exceeds your free checked baggage allowance.

Please note that mobile phones must be switched off from the time the cabin doors are closed for departure until after landing and the cabin doors have been opened.

Regarding Your Onward Connections:
- If you need assistance during transit, please contact our ground agents.
- Your checked baggage can usually be tagged and checked through to your final destination provided that your onward flight is confirmed. Please be advised that some countries, such as the U.S., require you to declare your baggage during transfer/transit at your first arrival point within its territory.
- If you have connecting flight operated by China Airlines, your baggage will usually be checked through to your final destination, and you will receive a boarding pass for your onward connection.

Regarding Your Arrival
- Make sure that your passport and visa are ready for your arrival, and please obey the local customs and quarantine regulations.
- If you need assistance upon your arrival, please contact our ground agents.

- Those who are pregnant, seriously ill, or lack of mobility, strength or dexterity in arms, hands or legs.
- Those younger than 15 years of age.
- Those unable to read or understand obviously printed or graphic emergency evacuation instructions given by CAL.
- Those who are blind or lack visual ability.
- Those who are deaf or lack aural ability.
- Those who are unable to verbally convey such information to other passengers.
- Those who have to assist accompanying small children.
- Deportees and their escorts.
- Those traveling with pets (such as a seeing-eye dog).
- Passengers traveling with block seat baggage.
- Passengers with any condition that might cause bodily harm if they perform any of the applicable tasks.

• China Airlines suggest that you should stow your personal belongings in suitable suitcases to avoid damage to your baggage or its contents during transport.

• Please put identification tags or labels on your baggage, which will help us to locate your baggage if it is lost.

• In order to protect your property and to prevent any loss, damages or delay, China Airlines would like to remind you not to pack any fragile articles, perishable items,or valuable and important personal effects into your checked baggage.

• In addition, we advise that your checked baggage should be less than 32kg per piece to avoid injury to porters, especially for customers travelling to and from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the United Kingdom. This is in accordance with the local occupational safety rules.

• The Free Baggage Allowance might be different from airlines. If you are connecting to/ from another airline and if you are taking any CI code sharing flight which operated by other airlines. Please contact the those airlines for details.

• New instructions for checked baggage when flying into and out of the U.S., have been applied at all U.S. commercial airports. You will not have further access to your bags once the authorities have screened them. Please remove all the belongings you will need onboard before you hand over your bags for screening.

• According to the advice of U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA), passengers are required to leave their baggage UNLOCKED to facilitate the search process. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will not be responsible for any damage caused to the locked bags if they are opened as part of the screening process.

• In the case that TSA screeners open your baggage during the screening procedure, they will close it with a tamper-evident seal and put a notice in your baggage notifying you to the fact that TSA screeners opened your bag for inspection.

• As this procedure is governed by U.S. law and beyond our control, China Airlines will not be responsible for damage or loss of items from the baggage.

• Especially if you have intention to bring some special items such as compressed gas cylinders, paintball equipment or scuba equipment, we recommend you to browse the website in addition to check airlines rules, or contact TSA contact center directly. For regions/countries not belonging to territories in the U.S./Canada and certain countries in South/Central America (The Free Baggage Allowance might be different for a variety of airlines. If you are connecting to/ from another airline and if you are flying any CI codeshare flight which operated by other airlines, please contact that airline for further information), a weight limit may be applicable:

- First Class can bring 40kg of checked baggage
- Business Class can bring 30kg of checked baggage
- Premium Economy Class can bring 25kg of checked baggage
- Economy Class can bring 20kg of checked baggage
- Infant (under 2 years old) can bring 10kg of checked baggage
- Member of Paragon/ Emerald/ SkyTeam Elite Plus can bring extra 20kg of checked baggage
- Gold/Skyteam Elite member can bring extra 10kg of checked baggage

- Flights from/ to the U.S., Canada and certain countries in South and Central America. (The Free Baggage Allowance might be different for a variety of airlines. If you are connecting to/ from another airline and if you are taking an CI codeshare flight operated by other airlines. Please contact the concerned airlines for more information).

- On routes in the same ticket, that include the U.S. or certain countries in South/Central America, a piece concept could be applicable to determined segments.

- On routes with China Airlines to/from Canada, a piece concept shall apply when a passenger makes stopover(s) in the TC3 area (Asia and Southwest Pacific) within two months. However, when weight system is more beneficial to the passenger,the weight concept shall be applied.

- First Class and Business Class passengers can carry 2 pieces of checked baggage, 3 dimensions of each bag may not exceed 62 in (158cm), and weight of each bag is less than 70 lbs (32 kg).

- Premium Economy Class passengers can carry 2 pieces of checked baggage, 3 dimensions of each bag may do not exceed 62 in (158cm), and weight of each bag is less than 61 lbs (28 kg).

- Economy Class passengers can carry 2 pieces, 3 dimensions of each bag do not exceed 62 in (158cm), 3 dimensions of both pieces is less than 107 in (173cm) and weight of each bag may not exceed 70 lbs (32 kg).

- Infant (under 2 years old) can carry 1 piece of checked baggage, dimensions may not exceed 45 inches (115 cm), weight of each bag may not exceed 22 lbs (10 Kg), andAn extra fully collapsible stroller.

- Paragon member (on flights operated by CI/AE code) can bring extra 02 pieces of checked baggage.

- Paragon member (on flights operated by SkyTeam member airlines can bring extra 01 piece of checked baggage.

If a passenger has a direct connecting flight with a North American Regional carrier, the free baggage allowance might be different for each carrier, and the passenger should obey the baggage regulations of carrier operating his/her flight.

Excess baggage will be charged on the basis of each extra kilogram exceeding the free baggage allowance and may be different from route to route.

Piece system
• Charge will be decided in consideration of the piece, size and weight of the baggage.
• Because the calculation is more complex
• Some sports equipment is entitled for special baggage privileges.

- Liquids, aerosols and gels will only be allowed to carry in hand baggage if they are packed in containers no more than 100 ml each.
- These containers must be kept in a transparent, re-sealable plastic bag with the total volume less than 1 liter.
- Each passenger is allowed to carry only one such plastic bag.
- The bag must be removed from hand baggage and presented to security personnel for visual examination.

Medications and special dietary requirements, including baby formula:
- Are permitted in cabin baggage
- Must be removed from cabin baggage and declared to security personnel at the checkpoint.
- Passengers with prescription medicine are advised to bring along supporting documentation (e.g. ID cards, letters from doctors)
