Mon, 12 May 2014. Last updated Tue, 03 Apr 2018 14:21

Japanese investors are showing their interest in IPO shares of Vietnamese companies. They have scheduled to participate in IPO deals in Vietnam market in the near future.

The investment promotion conference “Vietnam – destination for Japanese investors” has been held recently in Japan by Vietnamese Ministry of Finance. It is reported that there are 100 Japanese investment organizations participating the conference. Representatives of organizations show their great interest in Vietnam market thanks to favorable factors such as young and dynamic population, cheap labor, and large demand… Meanwhile, the demand of foreign investment of Japanese investors is extremely high. As a result, Vietnam is an attractive market for Japanese investors.

Several Japanese investors both individuals and organizations have poured a large capital into Vietnam for years. The majority of investors are interested in areas relating to consumer, service and agriculture because those industries are expected to grow strongly in the near future. Beside, a number of investors are attracted to sectors of infrastructures and banking. Through statements of representatives in the conference, it is believed that they will definitely participate in next IPO deals of Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex), Vietnam Aviation Corporation (Vietnam Airlines) and some others companies. They are carefully preparing essential legal procedures. They show their interest in both financial investment and strategic investment, depending on different organizations.

Vietnam becomes a destination for Japanese investors

Also in the conference, Japanese investors proposed that Vietnam government should adopted some advantaged policies for foreign investors like room expansion which means expanding the limitation of shares that a foreign investor is allowed to hold. Investors expect Vietnam to implement more measures to increase the liquidity for the stock market. Another important issue is that Vietnam needs to strengthen the transparency of market information in any circumstances.

Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, the Minister of Finance and the chairman of the conference has acquired all comments as well as suggestions. He also informed that recently the State Securities Commission under the Ministry of Finance has allowed foreign security companies to use a general account for placing orders to buy or sell a same security in a trading session. This decision will clearly facilitate the process of trading securities. Other suggestions will be seriously considered to implement in the nearest time.
