On July 29, 2014, Intel Vietnam marked an important milestone in its developing roadmap in Vietnam market with the announcement of successfully producing the first microprocessor in Vietnam factory.

According to a representative of Intel Vietnam, the implementation of producing CPU started in April 2014. The roadmap of product release have been urgently carried out. It is expected that at the end of this year, Intel Vietnam can release its product to consumers. Especially, CPU produced by Intel Vietnam will account for 80% of the total number of Intel CPU in the world.

Ms. Sherry Boger, CEO of Intel Products Vietnam stated that "This event is a proud of Intel Vietnam. Four years ago, we started producing Chipset products. In the beginning of this year, we have switched to SOC products and now is CPU Haswell microprocessor - the fourth generation of Intel Core. These products will serve the demand of customers from all over the world and bring a positive impact on exports turnover and the development of Vietnam high technology."

A kind of Intel Haswell

Attending in the event, Mr. Le Manh Ha, Deputy Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee shared that the first Intel chipsets produced in Vietnam in 2010 has been increasing in the quality of export each year. Until 2013, the export value reached 2 billion dollars, which greatly contributed in the export value of the city. The implementation of producing the first Haswell microprocessor in the first machine in Ho Chi Minh City will have a strong impact in Vietnam technology. This proves that Vietnam can perceive and respond to the advanced technology of the world.  This event also expresses a firm belief of foreign investors in investment environment, stable politics as well as the social security of Vietnam.  "Ho Chi Minh City authorities commit to creating the most favorable conditions for foreign investors, including Intel, to develop production and business, long-term investments in the city", Mr. Ha emphasized.

Accordingly, microprocessor (CPU) produced by Intel Vietnam is a new generation of Haswell assembled at Assembly and Test Machine (ATM) in Ho Chi Minh City. This is not only the first semiconductor plant in Vietnam (located in Hi-Tech Park Saigon), but also the largest factory in terms of assembly and testing of Intel in the world. This factory is considered as an important part of the producing process in the semiconductor plant of Intel. It is the last step of producing Intel silicon products, which are ready to bring products to global customers. The process of manufacturing Haswell microprocessor took place within two months from the initial training process to selling the final products.

It is estimated that at the end of June in this year, Intel Vietnam created more than 1,000 jobs in the high-tech industry and a multi-dimensional effect through local distributors. Intel has made continuous efforts improve education and skills for staffs and engineers throughout Vietnam. "We have also made a great investment in developing the sustainable environment. For example, a solar system of Intel Vietnam has provided 30% the electric power for this building. In addition, 100% industrial waste water have been processed to irrigate plants”, Mr. Boder added.
