The testing process of the ship took place successfully. JSC High-tech Investment and Development Vinashin is the first unit in Vietnam having studied and manufactured successfully the submersibles. With the name of Peace, the Vietnam homemade AUV (autonomous underwater vehicle) is the result of the independent trial production project at state level on "Complete technological design and manufacture of small submersibles". The project was assigned to JSC High-tech Investment and Development Vinashin by the Ministry of Science and Technology Affairs to deploy in 2010 with a total budget of 25.5 billion (State budget support of 2.36 billion). The Vietnam Peace AUV has an inspiration from the diving board of the Federal Republic of Germany by Dat Tran Ke engineer (graduated from Shanghai Maritime University Division). After that, a group headed by Mr. Bui Xuan Dung - Deputy General Director of JSC High-tech Investment and Development Vinashin researched, designed and changed the vessel design in accordance with conditions in Vietnam. The vessel is designed according to the rules of German submersible and approved by the country.
Peace is a small submersible with a length of 6.63m, a height of 2.74m, a speed of 4.5 sea mile/h, and a diving time of about 24 hours at the depth of 50m. The ship can occupy four crews in maximum. All design and operation of the ship have met international standards. When the submersibles dive, it can contact the bank or other vessels in the radius of 1km by the radio communication systems. This product is the result of the independent trial production project at state level on "Complete technological design and manufacture of small submersibles". The project was assigned to JSC High-tech Investment and Development Vinashin by the Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology to deploy in 2010 with a total budget of 25.5 billion (State budget support of 2.36 billion).
At the trial test, the ship was checked and operated carefully with all its functions. The trial test took place around an area of 15m deep in Cam Ranh Bay. At the time, it is slightly windy and wavy of about level 4. Presenting in the test of Vietnam homemade AUV, Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Nguyen Quan said that he has watched the process of designing and manufacturing ship since the early day. He is completely confident in the ability and qualification of technical staff of designinf and operating the ship. According to the initial assessments, the Peace dive boat runs good without technical errors. However, the Peace submersible is designed just in the first step. The Peace diving boat was basically completed according to the objectives of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Mr. Bui Xuan Dung said that at present, the vessel has met the standards of registration. Next time, the company will continue to learn from experience to improve the later production of submersible. In spite of being the initial success, this event has a very important meaning and opens up a bright future for domestic diving shipbuilding. JSC Investment and Development tech Vinashin plans to massively produce similar vessels like Peace ship, but the new one will carry more people. Initially, the ships are produced to serve tourists.
Reportedly, after the pilot testing, the Peace submersible will be checked its long-route registry, and monitored by German registry. This is the final step to check and receive the registration certificates of technical safety for ship operations. In addition, this ship must pass the registration step to operate and approve at state-level projects. The minister of Science and Technology, Nguyen Quan expects the later ships will be more modern and multi-functional to apply in fields of diving tourism, rigs test, and seabed test, etc. Obviously, the initial success of the Peace diving boat opens up a new direction for the manufacturing of submersible in Vietnam, serving the needs of shipbuilding, oil and gas, tourism, security maritime as well as export-oriented submersibles in the future.
