The Vietnam Book Festival 2015 with the theme "Books - The acculturation" was officially opened on April 18 morning at the National Library of Vietnam. The event will be open free to the public until May 5. The book festival 2015 is a practical activity of the National Library in response Vietnam Book Day on April 21, World Book and Copyright Day on Aril 23, 40 years of Vietnam Southern Liberation and Vietnam Reunification Day (30/04/1975 - 30/04/2015), and the formation of ASEAN Community 2015.
In the framework of the inaugural ceremony, there are talks on exchanges of authors, works, journey of literature - culture - history and landscapes. Readers can meet and exchange with Phong Le Prof. Researcher of reasoning, literary critics as, Duong Trung Quoc - Historian, Nguyen Quang Thieu - Poet as well as vice Chairman of Vietnam Writers Association, and Le Van Lan, Professor of History about works awarded. The Book Festival in Hanoi 2015 will organize a series of activities having a great social and educational significance. The exhibition of "Book - The acculturation" introduces the cross-culture in many fields between countries in ASEAN Community and some other nations around the world. The exhibition will be the convergence of about 10,000 titles and documents about the American resistance war and Spring Offensive and Uprising 1975 - Historical Ho Chi Minh Campaign, and integration of the country.
In activities chain of Vietnam Book Day in Hanoi, book lovers also have the opportunity to participate in contests such as story telling about family love and typical examples of children in Vietnam, and honoring kindness and love. To readers as children, the organizing committee holds drawing competition, creating products with themes of education and entertainment. Within the framework of the Book Festival 2015, the National Library will receive and share books funded by agencies and organizations, booksellers, and publishers to present poor libraries in the country. On the occasion, the Asian Fund in Vietnam will present English book for children from primary and secondary schools and gift children who gain achievements during the Book Day in Vietnam. From 2006, after 10 years of successful organizations at the National Library of Vietnam, the Book Day becomes a typical activity in most libraries countrywide, contributing to the reading culture in Vietnam.
Within the framework of the Book Festival 2015, the National Library of Vietnam will receive and share books funded by agencies and organizations, booksellers, and publishers to present libraries countrywide. This is also an opportunity for readers to buy books at discounted prices from multiple publishers.
