Vietnam Book Day again in Hanoi

The 2nd Vietnam Book Day 2015 will be organized at Thong Nhat Park, Hanoi from April 17 to 21, 2015, from 8AM to 9PM every day. The event will be a convergence of thousands of books in all kinds and fields from society, culture and economics.

The 2nd Vietnam Book Day 2015 will be are arranged in different themes, such as book introduction on celebration of the 40th anniversary of Southern Vietnam Liberation, 125th Birthday of Ho Chi Minh; introduction of cultural and art heritages; themes on exchange, trade, and cooperation to publish, purchase, and exchange of copyright. Besides exhibitions and ancillary activities, the 2nd Vietnam’s Book Day will be a convergence to introduce and sell books, with 150 booths of 100 publishers, booksellers across the country with thousands of titles, thousands of book with different abundant and diverse genres, such as children books, literature, culture and society, economy, science and technology; foreign books, eBooks and digital devices... To tribute readers, during the event, the units participating in the program will implement programs on incentives, discounts, and promotions on publications and charitable programs.

 

Vietnam Book Day

 

With a purpose of creating an impressive, attractive and diverse cultural space serving all readers, Vietnam Book Day also organizes sideline activities such as Cafe book and children playground... Also listed in the chain of activities of celebrating Vietnam Book Day, from April 1 to May 1, 2015, in some localities, there are many interesting activities held to respond the Book Day in Vietnam.

Previously, Prime Minister decided to choose April 21 as Vietnam Book Day (annually). The first Vietnam Book Day was held in April 21, 2014. Many celebrating activities are organized by Ministry of Telecommunication and Information, along with relevant ministries and branches. On the occasion of 40th anniversary of Southern Vietnam Liberation (30/4/1975 - 30/4/2015), Ministry of Telecommunication and Information in the coordination with Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and Ministry of Defense organize a book exhibition at Saigon General Sciences Library from April 27 - May 1, 2015. The exhibition will display about 10,000 titles and documents about the American resistance war and Spring Offensive and Uprising 1975 - Historical Ho Chi Minh Campaign, and integration of the country reflected over historical periods under 02 themes: "American resistance war, Southern Vietnam Liberation, Vietnam Reunification" and "Vietnam - development and integration".

On this occasion, the Vietnam Book Festival 2015 with the theme "Books - The Cultural Acculturation" will be held from April 18 - May 10, 2015 at the National Library of Vietnam (31 Trang Thi Street, Hanoi). Come to the Vietnam Book Day in Hanoi, readers have the opportunity to interact and meet with authors, literary critics, and historians in a series of significant social and educational activities. This year, there is a document exhibition "Books - Interference Culture", talks on author exchanges, special activities dedicated to the children. Within the framework of the Book Festival 2015, the National Library will receive and share books funded by agencies and organizations, booksellers, and publishers to present poor libraries in the country. This is also an opportunity for readers to buy books at discounted prices from multiple publishers.

To encourage and develop reading culture in Vietnam, honoring the value of book, Ho Chi Minh City will also hold the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City Book Street with the theme "Proud History - Stable Future" from April 18-21. This is one of the propaganda activities within the chain of activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Liberation of the South, and Vietnam Reunification (30/4/1975 - 30/4/2015). The 2nd Vietnam Book Day with various themes will be held with the participation of nearly 50 companies, bookstores, and publishers at some famous venues in the city such as Saigon Post Office and Nguyen Van Binh Street...
