On September 23, in Hanoi, Vietnam Literary Copyright Center, Vietnam Writers Association and the Korean Society of Authors signed a cooperation agreement on literary copyright to promote the bilateral cooperation in terms of copyright and related rights. In accordance with the agreements, the two sides will pledge to cooperate and maximize the ability of each side to support each other in protecting, developing copyright industry of each country and organization. The specific cooperative activities are mutual support in the protection of copyright in both countries; coordinate to resolve issues of copyright and related rights; share information on the protection of copyright and related rights. The cooperation is also a good signal in Vietnam Korea relation.
Initially, the Vietnam Literary Copyright Center and the Korean Society of Authors support and cooperate to introduce 20-50 books / year to the public of the two countries in various forms such as: Translate from Vietnamese to Korean and vice versa; publish works on both traditional paper books and e-books, etc. They also share a list of the works managed and protected in order to better the management of licensing and protecting the copyright in each country. They also cooperate to promote literature promulgation in both countries and around the world. At the same time, the two sides pledged to become a bridge to help organizations and individuals who want to use literary works closer to the authors, the works; review and process copyright infringements occurring previously.
At the signing ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association, Mr. Nguyen Tri Huan said that for years Vietnam has received the Korean culture in a very natural way through films, music, fashion, literature, and cuisine... However, in the field of culture, the piracy in Vietnam still occurs, causing losses to agencies, businesses, and cultural products. The ultimate goal is to exchange experiences on protection of literary copyright, the collaboration between Vietnam Literary Copyright Center and the Korean Society of Authors will be the foundation for long-term operation, providing practical and returning efficient fair for the composers.
At the same time, Vietnam and Korea pledged to become a bridge to help organizations and individuals who want to use literary works closer to the authors, the works; review and process copyright infringements occurring previously. Mr. Kwon Daewoo, Directors the Korean Society of Authors says that to promote cultural and sustainable development, the cooperation of copyright issues is very important. He believed that with 30 years experience in the operation of Korean Society of Authors and 10-year establishment of Center for Vietnam Literary Authorship, both sides will achieve practical good results, bring to the literary development of the two countries in the future.
In addition, Korean Society of Authors supports, enables staff center's staff of Copyrights Vietnam Literary Authorship to train, learn experiences on copyright to enhance qualification. About the Vietnam Literary Copyright Center, firstly, they will perform their obligations to the domestic authors in the country; strive to protect the right of authors who are members of the Korean Society of Authors when they have art works used in Vietnam. Established on 05.19.1984, the Korean Society of Authors now has 4,100 members. The association is a member of the International Association Union of Composers and Federation of international copy rights organizations. Vietnam Literary Copyright Center was established on 25.08.2004. It currently has 961 members, performs copyright protection for nearly 6,000 works. Currently, the center has connected the Vietnam Composers Copyright Center, development organizations and the Norway Copyright Development Organization. It is also the member of the International Federation of Copyrights Organizations.
