France Alumni Vietnam website launched

The website of France Alumni Vietnam has been put into operation to meet the demand of connecting and helping Vietnamese students studying in France and French students in Vietnam. The site also brings many interesting opportunities to alumni in France.

France Alumni Vietnam belongs to a global network which came into being by dint of the initiative of Mr. Laurent Fabius - Minister of International Development and Foreign Affairs in November 2014. This network aims to connect all foreign graduates having studied in France, to help them keep in touch with each other and to give them more convenience. More than 10,000 alumni in the world joined the network. Attending the ceremony, there was the presence of the Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien Vietnam as former overseas student in France, French Ambassador in Vietnam Jean Noel Poirier and numerous alumni in France. Honorary patron of the site is Professor Ngo Bao Chau who studied at the University of Paris VI in the early 90s of the last century.

Speaking at the ceremony, French Ambassador Jean Noël Poirier reviewed three phases of students from Vietnam to France: before 1954 with many big names of Vietnamese intellectuals; from 1954 to 1975 with a Vietnamese students generation in France supporting  for  Vietnam negotiation delegations at the Paris Conference in 1972; and the current period, with approximately 1,500 students from Vietnam to France each year. The French embassy expects Vietnam alumni to have a website to connect and exchange information. Embassy of France said that France wanted to keep in touch with Vietnamese people who studied in France or France alumni in Vietnam, as well as the French or "French style" departments in Vietnam.

Beside the homepage at Paris, local sites of France Alumni established by embassies are being implemented. Many counterparts participated in the network: educational and training facilities, businesses, and alumni in France... In Vietnam, the France Alumni has more than 25 partners. French Embassy has officially launched the site of France Alumni Vietnam (www.vietnam.francealumni.fr) for Vietnamese alumni in France. The honorary patron of this site is Professor Ngo Bao Chau. According to Mr. Jean Noël Poirier, Ambassador of France in Vietnam, Vietnam Alumni France belongs to a global network connecting all the former foreign students studying in France, and helping them communicate with each other and give them more convenience.

Joining the website helps alumni to contact each other, share experiences, and take part is discussions. Each student can keep in touch with France via entertainment, cultural or economic events for them. The site connects not only students, but also attracts the participation of French businesses as well as enterprises having consideration on alumni in France. This is a favorable conditions for former students to connect easily with enterprises. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the website, Mr. Trinh Minh Giang, Chairman of Vietnam alumni in France said that, this was a very effective tool for former students. The network of France Alumni was founded in November 2014 according to the initiative of Minister of French International Development and Foreign Affairs - Mr. Laurent Fabius. At present, there are about 10,000 alumni in the world joining the site. Beside the homepage at Paris, local sites of France Alumni established by embassies are being implemented. Vietnam is one of 10 countries firstly launching the website. According to the Ambassador, there are about 1,500 students studying abroad in France. The major fields are chosen by overseas students including medical, economics, and management, engineering, and culture and art fields.
