In May 2015, two low-cost airlines of Jetstar Pacific Airlines (Jetstar Pacific) and VietJet Air will open new Ho Chi Minh City - Chu Lai route. On April 15, Mr. Tran Dinh Tung - Deputy Chairman of Quang Nam People's Committee along with representatives of departments and relevant branches had a meeting with Jetstar Pacific Airlines to discuss about the launch of Ho Chi Minh City - Chu Lai route. At the meeting, the leaders of Jetstar Pacific said that on May 19, 2015 the airline would officially operate Ho Chi Minh City - Chu Lai flights with the frequency of 3 flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays by Airbus A320 with the capacity of 180 passengers.
Mr. Tran Dinh Tung applauded and supported the guideline on opening the new route of Ho Chi Minh City - Chu Lai - Ho Chi Minh City of Jetstar Pacific Airlines. He also said that many favorable conditions will be created to open the new route effectively. The Vice Chairman of Quang Nam People's Committee also agreed to support Jetstar in transporting passengers to the airport and promoting the new route on mass media... At the same time, it is expected that after the launch, the airline will gradually increase the frequency of flights, develop more services, incentives to meet the demand of passengers. Previously, the province also agreed that VietJet Air to open new route from Ho Chi Minh to Chu Lai and vice versa with the frequency of 4 flights per week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The first flights from Chu Lai to Ho Chi Minh City will be officially opened on May 27, 2015.
To facilicate low-cost airlines to operate flights effectively, the administration of Chu Lai Airport is conducting improvement on infrastructure and technique to meet the exploitation demand of new routes in the future. In addition, Quang Nam will support promotions in mass media, transfer finance of taking passengers from Tam Ky City to Chu Lai Airport and vice versa. The province also orders airlines to diversify services to provide various services to passengers.
