On the occasion of Europe Days 2015 in Vietnam and the 25th Anniversary of Vietnam - EU diplomatic relation (1990-2015), in the early days of May 2015, Europe Gala Concert in Vietnam with The Red Socks Brassquintett from Munich will take place in two major cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The program is held with the combination of Center for Performing Arts Organization (Department of Performing Arts) and Goethe-Institut Hanoi. This is one of meaningful activities in Europe Days 2015 (May 8), and the 25th Anniversary of Vietnam - EU diplomatic relation (1990-2015).
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of establishing Vietnam - Europe diplomatic relation, there are many activities and events will be held during 2015 including events for young people, public forums with European scholars, film festivals, music festivals, workshops, seminars, and other activities. Belonging to chain of activities, the concert of Red Socks will bring outstanding performances to audience. The concert will be organized in Hanoi from May 8 – 9 and in Ho Chi Minh City on May 10. Special features of the program are performances with traditional German musical instrument. For example, Alphorn is a unique instrument with the length of three meters. The music instrument used to be played in highlands where the sound of them can pass mountains' peak. In Vietnam, Alphorn will be shown at opera houses, along with traditional Vietnam music instruments of Suc Song Moi Music Band.
Red Socks Band was founded in 2015 with five members. The band is well-known for outstanding and diverse performances, from works of classical composers like Bach, Händel, American musicians of the 20th century to jazz and Argentinian tango. The band gained many international awards. Coming to Vietnam this time, the music band will perform with traditional German musical instrument of alphorn. Despite playing in any genre of music, the combination with five brass trumpets will give music lovers the very impressive sounds.
2015 marked the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - EU diplomatic relations. During the past 25 years, the bilateral relation has developed in a strong and comprehensive way. Beyond the cooperations of politics, economy and trade, and traditional development, activities of diplomatic exchanges play a key role in bringing the EU closer to Vietnamese people. Such program as Europe Days is the typical example for the effort of public diplomatic relations. Accordingly, a series of activities in Europe Days in Vietnam will take place diversely and outstandingly with the highlight of European Film Festival (May 15-28) with the convergence of 13 films shown in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City (May 15-28).
On May 8, people in Hanoi had a chance to enjoy the wonderful performance of laser art lights at Hanoi Opera House. The performance took onlookers to Europe and admired the featured architectures and images of Europe. The special part of the program is the laser lights' inflection on the facade of Hanoi Opera House. In addition, Ambassador Franz Jessen added that the Europe Days in Vietnam is featured with the 5th European Literature Days in Hanoi, particulary in Goethe-Institut, French cultural center, Center of Italian Brand and Culture to introduce readers literature of European countries.
