Singapore is a beautiful country located in Southeast Asia, including a main island and about 60 small islands scattered at the south pole of Malay Peninsula. Singapore is also the name of Singapore's capital city which occupies a third of the total area. Pulau Tekong, Sentosa and Pulau Ubin are three largest islands in Singapore. The country has the total area of about 718 square kilometers, and separated from Malay Peninsula by the Strait of Johor to the north. Singapore Strait is in the south, adjacent the South China Sea to the east, Malacca Bay and Indian Ocean to the west. It also shares borders with Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia. Singapore is poor in natural resources, but the important geographical position (amidst Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean and the Malacca Strait) has brought abundant potentials and significant advantages in trade for this island. This is one of the world's most important crossroads - a strategic location of Singapore to develop as a major hub for sectors of commerce, finance, telecommunications and tourism.
