With the theme of Hand in Hand, this year Vietnam Festival is considered as a great opportunity to tighten the friendship between the two people of Vietnam and Japan. Simultaneously, the festival aims to help Japanese learning more about Vietnamese culture, cuisine, people and country.
Addressing at the press conference at the headquarters of the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan, Mr. Doan Xuan Hung, the Ambassador and also the co-chairperson of Organizing Committee of Vietnam Festival appreciated the effort of the Organizing Committee, individuals and organizations to contribute to the success of Vietnam Festival 2013 that was to celebrate the 40th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relation between Vietnam and Japan. He expressed his expectation that Vietnam Festival 2014 as well as the 7th festival will continue to be successful, contributing significantly to the intimate relation between the two countries’ government and people.
In response to reporters, Mr. Matsuda, former Senator and also the co-chairperson of Organizing Committee said that Vietnam Festival 2014 expectedly continues to be the familiar event for Japanese and Vietnamese living and working in Japan to have the opportunity to meet and exchange culture. According to him, the most amazing thing is that the festival which has been held for many times has created a tightly close relation between government and people of Japan and Vietnam.
As planned, this year festival will take place in two days from September 13th to 14th. Activities within the framework of the festival are available from 10 am to 8 pm. Participating n the festival, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy delicious typical foods of Vietnamese cuisine, cultural programs, music shows, art performances imbued with Vietnamese identities.
According to the announcement of the Organizing Committee, this year festival will gather 98 booths including 49 food stalls and 49 booths displaying handicraft items. The most special feature of Vietnam Festival 2014 may be the Vietnam water puppet show by Vietnamese professional artists of this traditional art. Prepared carefully a couple of months ago, the water puppet show is expected to make a deep impression on visitors. Especially, it is the first time this art form to be introduced to Japanese public. In addition to activities promoting Vietnam tourism, culture, cuisine, traditional art and handicrafts, the festival will spend several booths to introduce about organizations and enterprises of the two countries. The Organizing Committee hopes that Vietnam Festival 2014 will attract 150,000 people to visit, increasing 20,000 compared to the number of the previous year.
