Flights

Owning one of the youngest fleets in the sky, Hong Kong Airlines maintains 24 modern aircrafts to provide greater capacity and flying range. The current fleet includes 03 Airbus A330-300s, 09 Airbus A330-200s and 07 Airbus A320. And the cargo fleet consists of 05 Airbus A330-200Fs. As of September 2014, the average age of our fleet stands at just 2.6 years.

Special orders

Domestic Flights:
• This complimentary service is eligible for unaccompanied minors (UM) from 5 to 12 years old.
• Applied the standard child fare.
International Flights
• This service is eligible for unaccompanied minors from 5 and 11 years.
• For any international flight, you will need to purchase a standard adult fare.
• On any international flights of Korean Air, adolescents from 12 to 16 years old are eligible for Unaccompanied Minor Service (excluding ID Discount Fares and Special Fares). However, there is USD 100 service fee/ child/ way. (CAD 100, if departing from Canada).
• If your children are travelling to or from Canada, the Philippines or Vietnam, please make note of the special requirements below.

UM Service to Canada:
• Unaccompanied minors are defined as any child under the age of 13.
• Minor passengers from 13 to 18 years old traveling with / without a guardian (not parents) also must prepare a Guardian Consent Form to enter Canada. Without a Guardian Consent Form, minor passengers are subject to go through an intensive immigration interview.
• Unaccompanied Minor service is applied for connecting flights on U.S. or Canadian airlines (including code-share partners).
• A “Guardian Consent Form” must be completed in English or French with signatures of a legal guardian or parents. In addition, addresses and phone numbers (both Departure point and Canada) must be included in the form.

UM Service to the Philippines:
Unaccompanied minors are defined as any child under 15 years old who doesn’t have permanent resident card. For children over age 12, an additional service charge applies. Required documents for travel include:
• Notarized guardian consent form in English
• Application for Waiver of Exclusion Ground (W.E.G), filled out upon arrival
• Copy of child’s and his/her guardian’s passports
• Copy of Return Itinerary and Receipt (ITR)
• Entry fee (PHP 3, 120)

A child who travels to the Philippines with only his or her mother must also have a completed guardian consent form to establish the familial relationship because the two will have different last names.

UM Service to Vietnam:
• Children under 14 years of age without parents, guardians or authorized custodians
- Minors passengers under 14 years should be accompanied either with their parents, guardians or authorized custodians to enter Vietnam
- Unaccompanied minors service is mandatory for children under 14 years of age when traveling alone to Vietnam without parents or guadians.

• Service fee
- Children between 5 ~ 11 years old, need to purchase a standard adult fare.
- If your children are adolescents between the ages of 12 and 13, USD 100 service fee required for each child each way. (CAD 100, if departing from Canada)

To apply, please contact Korean Air at least 24 hours prior to your child’s departure. You will need to provide appropriate identity and contact information of the parent/guardian for both departure and arrival destinations.

At check-in, your children will be given an Unaccompanied Minors badge, alerting the airport staff of their special status.

From that point on, your children will be escorted through each phase of the flight by our trained and capable staff who follow set guidelines to ensure their safety and your peace of mind.

At the destination airport, a dedicated Koran Air attendant will wait with your children until the designated, previously identified adult guardian arrives.

If no one picks the children at the airport, the children will be returned to the departure city at the expense of the sending guardian.

If you would like a companion through the airport, we will be more than happy to oblige. And if you have a personal guide dog, it will be welcomed on board at no extra cost.
Wheelchair Access

Service Guide

• Wheelchair service of Korean Air assists disabled or medical passengers who have difficulties to walk or move.
• Korean Air will assist passengers from check-in to boarding, upon arrival we will help passengers move to the arrival area. The service excludes moving to outside of the terminal or personal business such as duty free shops.
• Wheelchair service is provided first to the passengers with prior reservations, if you apply the same day at the airport, the service may be delayed.
• Carrying heavy, large or numerous baggage while using wheelchair is dangerous. Please follow carry-on baggage rule.

Passenger's own wheelchair
• You are welcome to bring your own wheelchair.
• You can also request help to move when using your own wheelchair.
In-flight wheelchairs, if needed, are available upon request.

On-Board Medical Assistance
Korean Air can offer medical assistance to passengers following the International Air Transport Association's Patient Passengers Transport Guidelines. Anyone who will need medical assistance as a medical oxygen or a stretcher on board must have a Medical Information Form (MEDIF) dated within 10 days of the flight from a certified medical doctor. In the case of communicable diseases or conditions that could pose a threat to other passengers, a MEDIF will also be necessary prior to travelling with us.

You must confirm the viability of passengers requesting special services during the booking process of Korean Air. You must register a travel request for an incapacitated passenger at least 72 hours prior to departure for international flights (or 7days in advance if connecting to other airlines) and 48 hours prior for domestic flights.

Stretcher Service
Any passenger who cannot physically utilize normal seating arrangements is eligible for this service.
We strongly recommend that a companion accompany the passenger during travel.

• Flights and KRW 50,000 per bottle on domestic flights.
Breathing Devices On Board
• Please notify us at least 48 hours before departure of your flight if you want to bring a POC device on board.

Device requirements:
• Must be approved by the Federal Aviation Administration or applicable nations and be equipped with a label as proof of certification.
• Passengers allow bringing only dry-cell battery devices with enough power to last for at least 150% of the maximum flight time. (In-flight power supplies are not available.)
• Passengers are solely responsible for operation of their devices.
• You must submit a physician's statement for any POC(Portable Oxygen Concentrator) device at the time of your reservation.

Timetable for Safe Travel

Single Pregnancy (1 child in utero)
• Pregnant passengers for less than 32 weeks are accepted.
• Pregnant passengers for 32-36 weeks, inform their term during booking and present their medical certificate and declaration form during check-in.
• Pregnant passengers for 37 weeks or more are not accepted for safety reasons.
Multiple Pregnancy (2 or more children in utero)
• Pregnant passengers for less than 32 weeks are accepted.
• Pregnant passengers for 32 weeks, inform their term during booking and present their medical certificate and declaration form during check-in.
• Pregnant passengers for 33 weeks or more are not accepted for safety reasons.

Required Documents
If pregnant passengers for 32 to 36 weeks, single pregnancy; 32 weeks, multiple pregnancy, or are experiencing complications (gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, obstetrical hemorrhage, as examples), they must present the following travel documents at check-in.

• Medical Certificate
1 copy, issued and signed by an OB/GYN, within 72 hours prior to departure.
• Declaration form
1 copy, which you need to fill out and sign

Special orders

• Age requirement: 7 days or older
• Airfare: Infants fly free on domestic flights and are charged 10% of an adult fare on international flights.
• Seating: Your infant will not be assigned a specific seat unless you purchase a child fare ticket. If, however, you are a single adult passenger travelling with more than one infant, you must purchase at least one child fare ticket.

Baggage Allowances

International Flights
- Passengers can bring a collapsible stroller/ car seat/ carriage or baby bassinet.
- The size of item is smaller than 115cm (length, width, height) and the maximum weight does not exceed 10kg.

Domestic Flights
- Passengers can bring one of items: a collapsible stroller, carriage, baby bassinet, car seat.

A stroller with the size larger than 115cm must be checked-in during the check-in process or at the boarding gate.

Passengers can pick the stroller up at the gate for international stations.

Stroller Free Rental Service
- Stroller Free Rantall Service is oferred in Family Service Office next to A18 check-in counter on the 3rd floor in Incheon Airport.

NOTE: Please be advised that the number of stroller is limited.

In-flight assistance for baby

If passengers have request for in-flight assistance for baby, please submit at least 24 hours in advance. Infants under 12 months will be served baby formula and orange juice; from 12 to 24 months, baby food and orange juice. If your infant has special needs or food allergies, please bring the necessary food items yourself, as we cannot provide any substitutes.

The number of bassinet is limited on international flights only. If you want to reserve one for your flight, please let us inform at least 48 hours before departure.
Car seats can only be used on board if space allows, so please confirm before boarding.

All aircrafts of Korean Air served for medium and long-haul flights have bathrooms equipped with diaper changing table.

Baby Seat & Harness
• Service Availability : International flights to and from Incheon.
(Except for Japan, China routes and routes operated by B737 aircraft)
• How to Apply : Passengers should be made the service at least 72 hours prior to departure. Please contact service center.
• Applicable Passenger : Infant passenger under 2 years old who paid child fare.

Harness

Eligible customers
Customers who have booked economy class tickets or, First/ Prestige class tickets.
• Even if the customers meet full of the condition above, Advance Seat Selection may not be available in the event of unscheduled flight operations (extra or charter flights) or a delayed flight maintenance.
• The selection service is not applied on code-share flights operated by other airlines.
• Group ticket holders are not eligible for the selection service.

Service Availability
• Reservation can be made from 48 hours to 361 days prior to the departure time. (Domestic Prestige Class: 24 hours before departure)

Important Information
• Bulkhead and exit-row seats can only be assigned at the airport.
• Please note that Korean Air may adjust your assigned seat if changing aircraft type or other reasons.
• The seating configuration of Internet seat map may be different from actual configuration of the aircraft you will be boarding.
• Your booking class or membership level can limit advance seat selection service.
• If passengers do not check in within following stated time limits, their boarding and pre-selected seats may not be guaranteed.

Refund/Cancellation

Requesting a Refund
Customers can request refund at your booking agencies or our Service Centers, depending on the place of purchase.

Time Limit
To request a refund, your ticket must be valid within one year from the issuance date or one year from the departure date.
You can apply for a refund request within 30 days from the expiry of the ticket.

Refund Process
The name on the ticket is similar to name of person who receive the refund. Required documents for a refund are:

• Passenger's Photo identification
Additional Documents When a Representative Requests Refund
• Power of Attorney written by the passenger
• Representative's Photo identification

Fees and Additional Charges for International tickets

Refund Penalty
Refund penalties may also apply depending on the fare types.

Refund Service Charge
A Service Charge applies to a refund regardless of whether cancellation was made prior to departure date. However, the Service Charge will be exempted if penalty applies.

Penalty or Service Charge exemptions:
• An involuntary refund
• Free tickets (ex: Award tickets)
• Refund requests within 24 hours for tickets issued 1 week or more before first departure date of an itinerary through Korean Air booking agents (including Service center and online)
• Refund requests within the same day of purchase.

Refund Service Charge and No-Show penalty for Domestic tickets
• Every ticket given a refund have to pay KRW 1,000 for a refund service charge
• No refund service charge shall be applied on an involuntary refund or a refund that is requested on the day of purchase without any change of reservation at the originally ticketed office.
• A passenger who either cancels within the 20 minute span prior to departure of the confirmed flight, or a passenger who does not show up at all will be applied No-show penalty of KRW 8,000.

Receiving Your Refund

Refunds will be transferred to the bank account of the passenger.
If you pay with a credit card, your refund will pe deposted directly to your credit card account. (To check the status of your credit card refund, contact your credit card company 2 to 5 days after your request since refund periods can vary.)

Special baggage

Guidelines for Pets On Board
• Types: Dogs, cats and birds only
• Age: Must be at least 8 weeks old
• Weight Limits : animals under 5 kg or less will be carried on board, between 5 and 32 kg in the cargo compartment, over 32kg should be transported by freighter.
• Dog only is permitted on board at no cost for passengers with special needs. The dog must sit in front of the passenger and quarantine certificates are still required.
• Number of pets per person:You are allowed to bring maximum 2 pets, one one is a carry-on and one travels in the cargo compartment. The one exception of being allowed two as carry-ons is if they are the same breed and under 6 months of age.
• Number of pets per aircraft: The number varies by aircraft, but all are restricted due to safety reasons. Please note that no pets are allowed on Boeing 737 international flights.

Costs
Fees are different depending on country and destination, charged in KRW, USD or CAD for flights from South Korea, the U.S. and Canada. From other countries, fees are converted from USD to the local currency based on current exchange rates.

International Regulations
Rules surrounding pet travel vary around the world. Please contact the embassy or consulate of your destination country to confirm all necessary documents such as quarantine certificates, health certificates and rabies immunization reports. We have some helpful tips below — but please note that all information is subject to change.

Strict Regulations Can Include:
Any pets from rabies-free countries or pets under 90 days old from anywhere, must:
• Have an implanted microchip.
• Be accompanied by a quarantine certificate, complete with microchip ID number, issued by an official government authority. The certificate should also clearly state that a “rabies-neutralizing antibody" test was performed with a result of 0.5 IU/ml or higher by an internationally recognized quarantine or government agency between 30 days and 24 months before travel.
