- There is no limitation for wheelchairs having lithium battery installed as an integral part of the device.
- The battery terminals must place separately to avoid short circuiting.
- The battery must have been tested per UN Part III, Section 38.3.

Each passenger can carry wheelchairs or mobility device with spillable and non-spillable batteries as checked baggage, with some following conditions:

- Battery must be able to be visually inspected and disconnected
- They must be protected individually to avoid short circuit
- Battery must be able to be securely attached to the wheelchair or mobility aid

Note: If the wheelchair cannot be loaded on the aircraft in an upright position, spillable (wet-cell) batteries must be removed and packaged in special packaging, provided by Delta.

Special baggage

Fragile items can be transported as hand baggage or checked baggage by Delta. However, passengers have to sign a Limited Liability Release Form at the airport. Passengers can buy a ticket for their fragile items to carry them as cabin-seat baggage.

Bulky items can be carried as cabin baggage. Passengers can store them in any passenger seat with a physical bulkhead or divider in front of the compartment. Bulky items must meet the following points to be carried as cabin baggage:

- Weigh less then 100 lbs (45 kgs).
- Not prevent the access to, or use of emergency or regular exits or aisle of the cabin.
- Not obscure passenger's view of the seatbelt, no smoking, or exit signs.
- Not contain dangerous goods.
- Be securable with a seatbelt to avoid damage during the flight.
- Be packaged safely to avoid potential injury to passengers.
- Be secured in the same cabin as the owner, and preferably next to the owner.

- For the first two bags: free if meeting the regular baggage allowance (weigh less than 50lbs/23kg, and have the total sizes of less than 62inches/157cm); 50USD/ CAD if overweight/oversize.
- For the 3rd to 25th bags:50 USD/CAD each if no more than 100 lbs (45 kg) and 115 inches/292cm of total three dimensions.

In international flights:
- For the first two bags:free if meeting the regular baggage allowance (weigh less than 50lbs/23kg, and have the total sizes of less than 62inches/157cm); 70 USD/CAD or 60 EURif overweight/oversize.

Christmas trees can be transported by Delta, but with a limited numberand restrictions on all flights within the United States, to/from Hawaii as follows:

- Trees need to be adequately packaged with the root ball or cut base and all branches wrapped and secured using a burlap type material.
- In flights into Hawaii and Christmas tree as a checked baggage, there must be a declaration form and the tree must pass agricultural inspection.
