Hanoi, the one-hundred-year-old capital of Vietnam owns many beautiful lakes. Each lake has its own beauty, especially Hoan Kiem Lake or Sword Lake in other name. The lake attracts both locals and tourists by its interesting legend and unique beauty.

One of the good things in Hanoi, there's something to see right outside my door in fact. Let's go to one of these things which is just about a block away. So here we are at Hoan Kiem Lake or Sword Lake in another name.  Hoan Kiem Lake is considered the symbol of the city. Here, there is an old legend connected with the name of the lake, lake of the sword restored. The legend says that King Le Loi came across the shinning metal bar at the house of his best friend. It turned out that his best friend caught a metal bar from the lake, so the King took the bar and mould into fortune sword.

When the sword finished, on the sword was two words “harmonious with heaven”. He understood that it was a gift from heaven and then took that sword and with it fight the Ming dynasty and series of wars. After he drove the Ming dynasty out of Vietnam about 1420, he came to the land and came back to the lake. And out on a boat, he saw a tortoise rising above water and shouting "return the sword". So he threw the sword to the lake, the tortoise took the sword in its mouth and submerge down the water. From then on, the lake called Hoan Kiem Lake or Sword Lake.

Although no one has ever found the sword casting from the lake, it is one very large and very well-known tourist attractions in Hanoi. Here is now captured and placed on an island concede anything because you had some major stores due to pollution and parasites. So, it's now convalescing and a specially-made peculiar city on Tortoise Island in Hoan Kiem Lake. We hope for a speedy recovery. Over on the north end of the lake like the larger Jade Island, whether is Jade mountain temple connected to the mainland by a lovely wooden bridge. The temple was built in the 19th century and dedicated to a few Vietnamese historical figures. One of them is of course Tran Hung Dao repeated an expeditionary force in the Yuan dynasty. On any given day in Hanoi travel, you can see the people all in young locals and foreigners, friends and romancing couples exercising around, walking around, riding around or just sitting around, looking Hoan Kiem Lake.
